I just picked up a locking swivel seat base at the marina up the street from my office today. It was only $24.26. I want to mount my tractor seat on it. I'm planning to remove my standard seat & base from the frame, install a couple pieces of heavy C or tube stock there then mount the swivel base on the C/tube stock a little further away from the dash than the stock seat base placement. Then I'll mount the stock seat and seat base on the swivel base. That will give me some more legroom when the seat is in the full back position on its tracks by positioning the seat both higher and further from the dash.
I'm going to use the swivel portion when I operate my backhoe. My plan is to simply eliminate the backhoe seat altogether. When I want to use the backhoe I'll simply swivel my tractor seat around 180 degrees and have a backhoe seat. /w3tcompact/icons/clever.gif
I'm going to have to play around with the seat placement before I permanently mount anything to the bar stock. I need to be able to slide it into a position it so as to be comfortable operating the tractor and be able to swivel it around and postion it so as to be comfortable operatin the backhoe.
I don't know if this is even possible, but I'm hopeful. I think it'll probably be a situation of setting the seat all the way back when operating the tractor and all the way forward when I swivel it around to operate the backhoe.
I'm also going to have to make certain it can be swiveled around without rubbing the fenders. Now, this might not be a challenge for some of you engineering types. Please remember, though, it's a poor social science major who's going to be doing all of this. I'm more than open for any suggestions as to how to make certain this works out OK. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
