I'm choosing between a Kubota M7040 and M8540.

In addition to lift capacity, a big interest of mine is the larger hydraulic pump capacity of 17gpm instead of the m7040's 11gpm for running certain Bobcat attachments on the front loader. I can't find out whether I can put a larger pump on the m7040. If so the smaller size of the m7040 is appealing.

What type of attachments are you looking to use? You mentioned Bobcat attachments, so I am wondering if you mean the skid steer attachments. Generally the simpler attachments that only operate some clyinders (4in1, grapple, etc) have very little hyd. requirements (flow) but on the rotary attachments (mowers, blowers, planers, etc.) need much GPM's than either tractor can supply, upwards of 30 GPM.
