I was going to mount the actuator like this person did:

But now that I have seen the way yours is mounted, Yours has more leverage so a smaller actuator will work.

I like the way you set it up, how many force pounds is the actuator?
The top mount is it curved or straight like the bottom mount?

mine uses a small hydraulic cyllinder on the deflector, but i have no idea how much force is beilg applied to it from the snow while its blowing. Considering the tonnage of snow blown out the thing, it could be quite alot. They have a pretty beefy cyllinder on mine.

Your chute is a lot different than mine. Mine is two pieces.

Great pictures and measurements, they helped alot.
Now I have to decide which way to set it up, on the side or on top.
Been doing some measurements and either wat I need a 4"stroke.
Have to decide on the force pounds also. I can get a 35 pound push/pull actuator with a 200 pound static force but it is a high speed unit or I can get a 150 pound push/pull with a 522 pound static sorce, which is a slower speed.
I am leaning towards the normal speed because of the high static force with a heavy wet snow in mind.

Have you decided what mounting method you will use for the actuator or what type you will use?

Something to consider; I mounted an electric power window switch on the tractors joystick so that I would have all snow blower functions available in one place and not have to reach and take my hand off the controls

I am going to mount it similar to the way you mounted yours.
I ordered a 12 volt 150 pound thust push/pull actuaor with a 4 inch stroke.
I also ordered a rubber boot cover for the actuator.
The actuator should be here by Wendsday. I ordered it last Wendsday.
I have been building the brackets and have it all wired.
I bought a momentary return to center toggle switch and put it in a plastic box. Right now I have just tie wraped it to the loader control lever. Will mount the switch box better when I get it all figured out.

I got the actuator all put together and wired here are some pictures of the actuator and control box. I mounted the control box on the loader lever, by cutting a 3/4" nut enough to fit over the lever and tapped a small bolt into the side of the nut to secure it to the lever then welded a piece of round bar to the nut and to a piece of flat steel, wrapped some tape around the lever to protect the lever paint.

That looks like a very nice job.:thumbsup: I think I'd have put the box on the outside of the joystick so that I didn't hit it with my knee, but if it works for you where it is, that's fine. . . just a case of personal preference.
