I have to agree on the duramax option. No disrespect intended with this....but why would you pay $30K to $40K or more for a new truck and then void the warranty for 100-150hp? I'd trade it in for duramax if I were you! If you've got the deep pockets.....go for it.

Can you turn it back in on that new program GM has "if you don't like it?"

    Good luck!!

I think you made a big mistake. Your considering a supercharger? By the time it is said and done, you have voided your warranty, most likely will have tuning issues, later on blow your engine due to a bad tune (happens all the time) and then before the blown motor will have spent more than what the deisel would have cost. Even so if all went well intially, that motor wont last long becuase it wasnt setup for blown application with forged internals it will live a short life with the towing. Leave the truck oalone or cut your losses and learn your fromyour mistake. Should have gone deisel from the beginning bud. Sorry to piss on your parade but you should have did more research before your buy. I have an extensive history with doing blown and turbo applications in mustangs so just wanted to let you know, its not something that you do once and all will be good and dandy for the next couple years.

Also, gears are the only thing that will make a difference. intake and exhaust will not make any seat of the pants gains. only gains on the dyno but minescule. A programmer wont make anything noticeable either. Programmers will only make huge gains on deisel applications

Im new here but not new to the lsx engine world. You have a solid performance platform. Get a cam headers and a whipple supercharger. If you went with heads too you could add 200hp no problem and keep reliability. If you want to keep it alive go with a good dyno tune. When shopping for a tune ask if they use hp tuners in my opinion its the best for forced induction. Look at ls1 tech or lstruck.net. I had a dd 05 4x4 2500 with the 6.0 it made 700hp at the wheels on a mostly stock bottom end. It was a monster. That was a turbo truck. I would still have the truck but sold it a dyno day I had no plan to sell but a guy made me a offer i couldnt refuse.

and the cost to add 200 hp th the 6.0 would easily trade him into a DMAX and get him a truck that can actually PULL something instead of being PULLED by something when it breaks down from trying to tow with a hi hp gasser.. the 6.0 in stock form will be his limiting factor for towing and turning up the hp will not make it any better.

So true! Risk/reward not worth it for a daily driver. If you want power buy a duramax then spend 10k getting dual turbos to keep the drivability in check, bigger injectors, and a fueling chip.

If you want cheap and powerful buy an older dodge Cummins, but be prepared for dodge handling and rust!

Headers are a waste of money, and factory manifolds flow better than in the past, more powerblock BS!! Your warranty will be voided the second the supercharger is added! There goes any resale value if you trade it in! Programs for fuel mileage are total BS, and a waste of money. Get a Dmax, because it will be cheaper than modding the 6.0!!
    Thanks,

    Will
