The BD OnX LED light bar is the only light bar on the market that has the distance of an 8 HID with the smooth spread of an LED. The OnX is available in 8 increments ranging from 8 all the way to 51? Each 8 increment offers a concentrated beam of 3600 lumens. The OnX utilizes a Cree XML T6 Bin LED at 5000k, which is complimented by our one of a kind user changeable optics that have been specifically designed for the OnXç—´ HID like distance projection. If youæ±*e looking for the guaranteed farthest projecting LED light on the market, look no further.

The OnX as with all of BD lights are Made in America and built to withstand almost anything. The quality of the OnX is as amazing as its performance, and backed by our lifetime warranty! Don稚 keep replacing cheaper lights spending more money, the OnX LED Light Bar will out last any vehicle.

Below is a picture of a 2 Cell 15" OnX against a similar competitor bar. I know most of these larger bars are way over kill for many of your applications but just wanted to show you guys the difference between Baja Designs lights.

Binning

There are two primary performance characteristics of LED light bulbs that manufacturers use to price their LED's - Luminous output(brightness) & color temperature.
All LED light bulb manufacturers sort their bulbs for luminous output and color temp. after mass-production using a practice called "binning". Binning is complicated but in general terms, bulbs measured with the brightest luminous output & the most desirable color temperature are placed into a "bin". Each subsequent bin has lower performance ratings and/or less desirable color; until they get to the last bin with the lowest performance ratings.

Most important, the cost differential and LED quality from the highest rated bin to the lowest is significant. Example: the lowest Cree XPG model LED output bin has 20% fewer lumens per watt than the highest rated bin. To save money, many manufacturers of off-road lighting systems select from the cheaper, inferior LED bins; which produce vastly inferior results when compared to the same model LEDs from higher rated bins. Many off-road manufacturers marketing departments still claim the maximum theoretical lumens instead of what they are they are actually using.

Baja Designs only accepts bulbs from bins with the highest output bulbs and optimal color temperature for off-road.

Thanks for posting, nice to find a nice american made option. Got to looking around the site, your products look nice. A little expensive, but that is to be expected for anything U.S. made. You have been added to my list for when I add lights. What are really the differences between the OnX and the stealth light bars?

Thanks we appreciate it. The main difference besides the size is the LED used, and the optic used. The OnX can achieve more distance and spread because of the T6 XML LED used matched with our specifically engineered optic. Both light bars throw out an immense amount of the light and still have the quality to last a lifetime.

How do the OnX lights compare with the American made Rigids? What do your products offer that they don't and vice versa?

What do you recommend for forward lighting mounted on either the rear fenders or ROPS?
How about for a rear facing work light?

HI Mike,

I know a little bit about the BIN process since I am in the electronics industry - the real meaning the acronym BIN is Brightness Index Number and yes there are color ranges as well controlled in a similar manner.

You are correct that different LED's have a different BIN value and color value. There are many makers of LED's these are usually rated in watts. Where the BIN comes in, is manufacturers sort LED by the brightness then label them accordingly with a BIN #. In order to obtain the same output from different BIN # LED requires a different resistor combination thus voltage that then equalizes the output across different BIN levels.

What the manufacturers who put these together (electronics assembly) they have what is called a variant map, which lists what LED BIN values map to which resistor values to create equal brightness output of an LED.

We supply software that automatically maps the variant of the BIN value to the correct resistor value during the manufacturing process and this ensures the light output across multiple units and final end product quality.

Yes, it is complex, but I wanted to clarify the binning process - its not putting stuff in bins..

Thanks for the info! I always wondered what that refereed to.

I wonder how measure brightness, straight power measurement or what the eye perceives given it's sensitivity to different frequency.

Each LED in each PCB assembly is electrically tested to ensure the correct voltage is at the LEDs. For instance, a 8 light lamp, would test each LED and resistor, Once passed they get assembled and potted, and then the power supply connected and a voltage applied. At this stage its a visual check for light intensity and some get burned in depending on the end customer requirements.

Essentlaiiy during the first design and build of a given lamp type, the manufacterer does intensity and luminosity checks (usually using spectrometers and measuring outputs) and once in production a first piece is validated then production commences. .

Another critical part of the LED light is the reflector assembly, and then the diffuser assembly if used in wide array applications like street lighting. Probably as much or more engineering goes into the diffuser and reflector than the electronics as this is the key piece to illuminate correctly.

Surprisingly there are a lot of LED lights made in North America - LED Roadway Lighting in NS, and a lot of the automotive LED lighting is built here as well, so its a big market. Another one is Truck-Lite in PA, they make marker lights and headlights on tractor trailers, and also sub contract to other supplers - like Harley Davidson and so on.

The OnX has significantly more light output then the Rigid light bars. A few features unique to only BD lights are, the OnX uses the Cree T6 XML LED which is one of Crees latest LEDs and has an immense output. BD lights offer 4 levels of heat management, the only user customizable light bar on the market, three modes built in to the circuit board 100%, 50% and strobe, CNC aluminum housing and specifically engineered optics by our head engineer for the greatest efficiency.
We also have a informative video explaining some of the unique features Why Baja Designs Outshines The Competition - YouTube
Hope this helps let me know if you have any more questions.
