Well, DON'T leave one on the floor / floorboards. Especially don't if you're running the brush hog. Not even just for a little bit. ALSO, DON'T ask me how I came by this tidbit of knowledge!
NOW, I use old ammo cans, attached to various points on my skidding winch or tractor. If you QA have a loader, sometimes there's a "slot" between the loader frame and the loader frame that bolts to the tractor. It works well to get some flat stock, about 8" long x 5" wide (whatever will slide into the loader frame opening), and weld a platform (to bolt an ammo can onto) at 90 degrees on one end. Slide the piece into the slot and you have a 'shelf' to bolt an ammo can to . Sorry no pics...
