Kubota L3301
Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a Kubota L3301. I knew that in time I would need to add a work light to the rear for snow removal (3 point snowblower). I had every intention of purchasing the Kubota work light. When moving the tractor one night I noticed that I had very little light when driving with the Bucket raised on the front end loader. At this point I decided to build a light bar. I did this light bar build without drilling into the ROPS.

My light bar is made of aluminum(pained black) with LED light. The aluminum was purchased from ALRO steel company. These people were awesome as they made the 26" cut for the main bar and the 2" cuts for the top pieces.

My lights and wiring kit were purchased thru Amazon. Wire kit was only for switch, in line fuse and relay.

My hardware (nuts, bolts, spray paint, xtra wire and misc items) from Home Depot.

The tool box was from a cheap set I purchased for Harbor freight. I decided to add the larger tool box for more tractor stuff and for the wiring/fuse/light switch for the work lights. I did not want to cut a hole in the dash and have wiring running back and fourth along the tractor frame. I spent two hours talking myself out of drilling a hole in the dash. The switch is mounted on the side of the tool box. See picture 5 (lights on front view)and zoom in for the red dot.

I ran the light off the 10amp work light loom under the left rear fender.

I have attached pictures. I did not add the pictures for the work on the larger tool box as it is not finished. I also have wiring that is not zip tied to ROPS due to the fact I forgot to get extra zip ties. It will be neat and tidy when done.

These lights were night and day difference. I used spots on the front for distance, Floods on rear with one pointing down for Tool Box/PTO/3 Point area. I am so glad I did not go with the factory unit.

Parts List and pictures

NiiLight Flood (rear) $16.99
NiiLight Spot (front) $16.99
26" x 5", 2- 2" x 5", 1/2" Aluminum $30
Wire Kit $10.99
Misc 3" Bolts, washers, lock washers- $10
Misc additional wire/gromets/connectors/zip ties $20
Spray paint $5
Tool Box $15
7/16 osb for bottom of tool box for strength (had laying around from bench build)

Enjoy

PJ

Can you tell me specifically which aluminum you got from Alro. I'm looking on the website and cannot find a custom cut under $80

I apologize, the aluminum is 1/4". The item description is: 1/4 x 5 6061-T6511 EXT ALUM. I purchased a 48" piece for $32.89 plus tax. They cut the pieces I needed. I needed the extra 18" for another project. Contact Alro steel at the Ann Arbor store 734-213-2727.

The part number is 21430120- They sell this in 12ft section online for $72. Call the store and have them cut it to size and ship.

I'm looking to add some LED lights to my tractor. My biggest fear is reliability given a 'rougher' terrain than a road.

What type of light bar (make/model) did you purchase and what have you found thus far?

Anyone else with any experience with LED light bars from Amazon and eBay? What holds up and what falls apart? LEDs are pretty hardy in and of themselves, but I hear of light bars breaking apart from the 'rough treatment' of a tractor without springs and shocks.

I got mine off Amazon & they have heald up. As LEDs are solid state, they hold up better than standard bulbs.

Just bought a 3301 myself. I added two Kawell 18w cubes (one on either side of rops) pointed forward and a Kawell 18w flat bar point back at the 3pt/implement area. They are mounted just below the hinge so I can still use them with the rops folded. Total cost with switch and wire: $50. I've had a Kawell 18w flat bar on my mower for a few years now and it's held up well. Now one thing about these cheap LEDS is my lights are advertised at 18w each but after measuring the draw they are really about 13-14w...no biggie for as cheap as they are and the output is good enough for me. As far as a bigger tool box I took the little plastic one off and replaced it with a .30 cal can.
