TnT: Kubo ata\'s vs Integration Engineering, Part 2

I decided to replace the Kubota system with Integration Engineering's cylinders and hoses. The valves are Kubota". A picture is attached.

Their cost was $554 plus shipping, no sales tax, you install. Shipping was via UPS, a short distance, $39. (ouch)

These cylinders are 2 3/8" diameter vs 3 3/8" for Kubota. I asked for 1/4" diameter hoses instead of the standard 3/8" and they route much better without restricting flow enough to affect the cylinder. There is no appreciable leakage with these cylinders. The products appear well made. Product support is excellent but you may have to leave a message.

This Integation Engineering system is still expensive but I would definitely get piloted check valve cylinders from somebody.

Another view of Integration Engineerings's system.

Side by side of both systems. The diameter difference looks much bigger in person than it seems in the picture.

You made good choices for your tractor. I wasn't sure if you had already bought the TCC setup or not. Have fun.

It appears from the picture that the IE cylinders would give you more travel than the Kubota, at the expense of a longer top link. Is this true? If so will the longer top link be an issue?

Re: TnT: Kubo ata\'s vs Integration Engineering, Part 2

Knowing how my top link works, I personnaly would not go down in piston size. There are times I use every bit of what I have. You can't really get more travel without sacrificing the overall length unless you had a telescoping hydraulic system. I still see no need for piloted hydraulics myself. The 1/4" hoses will work very well as you mentioned. The price is good.

My take on pilot operated check valves is that it all depends....

If one is lucky enough to have a control valve that has mimimum leakeage then the check valves are of little use.

Still, some (many???) here at TBN report that they have drift in either or both their top and tilt cylinders.

A pilot operated check valve cannot cure leakage in a cylinder...but it can prevend leak down in the cylinder that is due to the control valve.

Are pilot operated check valves worth the extra cost? Got me...but I have decided to use them in one form or another in the T&T set up I am putting together...not that this means much... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I have been buying my parts from www.tractorsmart.com for convenience and price. I ordered some parts and some came from Kubota In Suwanee, GA, From Kubota in Columbus, OH, and the rest out of Modern Equipment in Johnson City, TN (Tractorsmart) inventory, since Kubota didn't have any in stock. There was a single $5.00 shipping fee for everything. Dealing with Ronnie Bowman at Tractorsmart is a pleasure. He will look up part numbers for you and keep you posted on when your order will be shipped. Everything arrived in less than a week, from all sources. He explained to me that Kubota will drop ship any part to his customer for $5.00. If it has to come from more than one location, Kubota eats the excess. I am pleased with the service.

Re: TnT: Kubo ata\'s vs Integration Engineering, Part 2

Junkman,

The cylinders pictured in this thread are those from Integration Engineering for their TCC system. I think he just mis-spoke in the first post.

The Kubota cylinders that were pictured in the other thread he labeled Part 1, are the ones that Kubota sells under Whole Goods part number L8326 for $700. That is probably what TractorSmart sells. Big difference, as he indicated.

Re: TnT: Kubo ata\'s vs Integration Engineering, Part 2

Robert,

Kubota's, IE's, and the Kubota original equipment turnbuckle are virtually the same length, extended and retracted.

Additionally, one extra feature to IE's SIDELINK is you have several inches of length adjustment before you mount the sidelink. The piston rod is threaded and the top eyelet is an eyebolt. This adjustment mechanism does not reduce the cylinder stroke.
