Just purchased a John Deer X530, hasn't even been delivered yet, and I would like to know if there are any annoyances that can crop up while owning this tractor. I am talking about inherent problems like I had with my Toro Wheel Horse 520H. Such as: the frame cracking from the use of the two stage snow blower and the 60 inch deck, or corrosion in the 12 wire electrical connector, or loosening a transmission oil filter to prevent air lock while refilling the transmission. Even ruined two batteries before I realized it came with a bad voltage regulator. Instead of learning these things over the years, like I did on the 520H, I'd like to get a head of the game. Thanks

Do any of you guys have a 3 point on your X series tractor? I've had a 3 point on my X748 since it was new 7 years ago. I don't use it much, but I do have a 647 tiller, a disk, and a sprayer. I've always noticed that it seems too wide. The arms have to be pulled all the way in to make it the normal CAT 1 spread. The sway chains don't have near enough adjustment to tighten up. It seems like the arms want to be 4-6 inches wider than standard CAT 1. It just seems odd. The ball ends can barely compensate for the extreme angle of narrowing it up so much. What are your experiences?

I'm looking for a JD X495, and I'm torn between the All Wheel Steering model and the traditional front steering model.

Is the AWS reliable? I'm sure some of you must have a lot of hours on them by now! :)
Is it durable for some reasonable towing, pulling, etc, or should you not strain the AWS model like you can the solid rear axle model? (I have a 2520 for all the heavy work, so it won't be getting abused)

I'm planning on using it mostly for mowing and I have some real steep side hills that i will need to mow and I'm wondering how the AWS works on the sidehills? I'm afraid as you turn into the hill, the rear tire will point downhill, but then again maybe that will help? hmmmm?

What maintenance is required of the AWS? Grease the U joints, etc?

Any other input on the good or bad things about the AWS, or the X495 in general are all welcome, as one can never have too much info while shopping! Since we are on the topic, what should a low hour x495 cost with a 62 inch deck in great condition?

Thanks in advance! :drink:

I have replaced the tractor's traction belt (not the mower drive belt, the tractors itself. I replaced it because the power in both forward and reverse had diminished greatly. Now the tractor won't move at all. There seems to be much to much play in the belt and I'm sure I purchased the correct one.
Does anyone have the drive routing diagram? I'm sure I did something wrong (probably simply stupid) but the grass is growing fast and my tractor is standing still. PLEASE HELP!
Serial # MOL155BB137121 if this helps. I purchased it new about 8 years ago.

Question is: How would it work for pushing snow with a blade. (Not even considering a blower, since we have a big walk-behind and dont want to duplicate equipment.)

Transmission oil says it is 10W-30 , [not transmission oil] So, it takes regular 10w-30 motor oil ,, not transmission or hydraulic oil ?
Motor is a 27HP,,,, Briggs/Stratt [ Sure looks like one,,, no mfg reference ]
I am a fan of straight 30W oil for air cooled motors,,,,, any problems with using 30w oil instead of 10w30

Hi Guys,

Yesterday while mowing I managed to drive over a rather large stone and bent blades of the mower:mad:. Stone was not there last year and I can only assume that the freeze and thaw cycle has pushed this up to the ground surface:confused::confused2:.
Anyway, I would like to remove the deck so I can check spindle trueness and housings as well as remove and replace blades:eek:.
Has anyone done this ? If so how is it done ?
Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I just put in full synthetic and really don't want to drain it back out. I backed it out a few turns and put my micrometer on it and it came in at 18.5MM but I couldn't get the thread part.

Has anyone seen an owners manual that's updated for the X310? I just purchased a new 310 early this week and have gone through the manual that came with it but it's not really for the 310. Closest model that it applies to as far as I can tell is the 360. So far I've been able to do everything I've needed to do, like setting the mower deck level, but not without some head scratching and investigation on my part. I'm curious if the dealer gave me the wrong manual, if JD just hasn't updated it to include the 310, or if this website possibly has a manual that can be downloaded and printed? By the way I used our 310 for the first time tonight to do our yard, so far I'm very impressed with the 310 and it was the most fun I've ever had doing something I'd rather not do!

The right tank fuel line inside the tank was broke in half, the left take had no pickup line at all. I changed them due to running out of fuel, and the fuel gauge read full. Once I got those changed out, I put everything back together now the start motor won't crank. It was working fine when I started working on it, the only thing I disconnected was the pull pick up wires for the fuel gauge. I have check the neutral safety switch (at least I think it was the neutral safety switch) it seems to be working fine. When you turn the key the indicator lights illuminate it just doesn't crank.
