Kohler suffered fatal internal damage, so I bought a good-running Briggs to replace it. Bolts right in but the wiring is confusing. Here are the particulars:

Donor: Sears 917272352
Briggs 15.5HP OHV 31C707 Type 0230E Code 030509ZE 31449

Recipient: Sears 917256544
Kohler Command CV15S 15HP OHV dead

Wires:

Briggs: Red and Orange - on back of engine
Grey - to carb (changes to blue in chassis loom)
Black - to ignition on top of engine

Kohler: Red - carb
Yellow - ?
White - ?
Black - ?

In a chassis connector the Kohler changes to Blue, Orange, Red and Black.

So I guessed and ran blue to blue, orange to orange, and tried connecting the other two. No starter, no joy. How should my wires be connected?
Do I need to transplant the solenoid as well?

Thanks, Tom

2010 Gt 5000 Garden Tractor with 314 hours. Only used for mowing grass. Front tires out of toe. Bought new spindles and drag links....still out of toe. I did some research and have read where people are having trouble with bent frames. Called Sears and was going to set up an appointment to have a Sears Repairman come out to take a look, and hopefully replace the frame. Yes the frame is under warranty. But, it costs $96 just for the guy to come out, then I would owe all labor if the frame does need replaced. So It would still cost me around $400 just to have the frame replaced under warranty!!!! Done!!! You get what you pay for! I should have never bought the thing. Back to a Deere for me. I will pay a little more to have a much better product!! Anyone interested in this tractor?? Live near Pittsburgh Pa.

Hey folks, first post here.

I've got a 19.5HP Craftsman with Hydrostatic drive that I picked up used without a mower deck. I've come across a 21hp YS4500 with a 42" deck and a blown motor. Will the deck fit on mine??

Has anyone made a swap like this before?

Or would I be better off putting the 19.5hp motor in the YS4500?

I can probably get the whole rig for a trade of a mountain bike I've barely got $100 into.

Any ideas??

I bought this Wizard Garden Tractor today, included was a near perfect Craftsman/Brinly-Hardy moldboard, wheel weights installed, tire chains and a 44" deck that works perfectly with a spare blade. I paid $350, I think I did OK! Most people don't know these Wizards are basically GT 6000's with Roper hood and inline 6 speed transaxle instead of the 3 speed with dual range that Craftsman has.

Just bought a 2006 lt3000 with the Briggs 20 hp ohv engine. Was cutting the grass engine did a little stall like it was out of gas. Wasn't completely out but I added gas to it. Now it will not start, found @ one time was a mouse house under the engine cover. The armature/magnetron wire does not look to good (mouse desert) and the other end broke at the plug (rusted out). I am getting a little spark would like to replace the part but I can't find any part #'s. Any help would be great. Newbie here so if there is a thread or sticky just send me there. Thanks.

I have a 1987 12.5 h.p lawn tractor. The tecumseh is in need of replacement. The tractor is in great shape. I can get a brigs 17.5 h.p. brand new with a two year warranty for a little under $500.00. I don't really have the money for a new one tractor. I only use it to mow about 3/4 of an acre. I also use it to tow a little garden trailer around. I could probably scrape enough money up for a $1k to $1300 tractor. Is the rest of my tractor built well enough to go with a new engine. Or is the engine just a sign of things to come.

As many of you know, I recently bought a brand-spanking-new Craftsman PYT9000 24hp (Kohler "Courage" engine) tractor with EZ-Drive Hydostatic...

As many of you know, I recently bought a brand-spanking-new Craftsman PYT9000 24hp (Kohler "Courage" engine) tractor with EZ-Drive Hydostatic transmission and 46" mower deck. Today I cut my lawn for the second time since I bought it. Everything was going fine, then I turned it off to talk with my neighbor. It may be worth mentioning here that I inadvertently still had the mower blades engaged when I shut off the key; not sure if this is a serious faux pas or not?

So anyway, a minute later I went to restart the engine, and all I get is silence. This is when I realized I had left the mower engaged, so I turned the knob off (to disengage the blades) and now all I get when I turn the key is a click.

The battery should obviously be fully charged, so, is the main issue the fact that I forgot to stop the blades prior to stopping the engine? And if so, what do I do about it now?

I must add that I reside on a very remote island in the North Atlantic (off the coast of Newfoundland) and thus am unable to simply have a service guy look at it. There's no service shop to go to, nor anyone to make a house call, so I would appreciate any/all advice/suggestions you can provide, to assist me in getting my beloved tractor back up and running as soon a possible. In fact I'd be eternally grateful!!

Here's a pic of my tractor.

Thanks,
Glen

:mad:I have a 2005 craftsman 54 cut riding mower and like all the previous craftsman riding mowers the K46 trans has let me down, axle barring started leaking and then it started whining and then stopped. I took it apart, cleaned it, added new fluid and thought that I had fixed the problem but after a couple of passes it started whining again and then stops. I just don't understand it because everything inside the trans. looked brand new, nothing stood out. The one thing I didn't do was purge it, how is this done. I need some help, can't afford to keep buying a new mower every couple of years, this mower was not cheap. Thanks
