Well, I finally bit the bullet and bought a dealer demo Kubota T1880 42" riding mower. :) I was debating between riding mower and zero turn, but this deal seemed good. The dealer had used it around his cottage this summer and wanted to clear it out of their way before winter. So, my first use won't be until next spring. In the meantime, it's being used as an anchor to help hold down my portable shelter over this windy winter! :D:D

I only have one problem, I put my crank in and put the crankcase cover back on and tured my crank. It makes a grouling clicing noise. Sould I replace the bearing or leave it be. My gut intinct says replace it, but im not sure on pricing. What should I do ?

I just purchased a new Ferris and love it. I tried out a Hustler Fastrak 21/54 and a Country Clipper 21/54 while looking at the Ferris. Hustler has a great warranty at 4 years for personal residential and the others just have 2 years. The Hustler dealer that is closest is a tool rental place and is trying to sell out of the Hustlers so I was more concerned about dealer help. The Ferris dealer I have known since I was a little kid so I know he will treat me right. My uncle runs his own lawn care business and has run a lot of different machines. He also talked me in to buying the Ferris since one of the cemeteries that he mows has one. He looked at the Hustler and thought the Ferris was better built. One major thing that I noticed was the Ferris had greasable bearings where the Hustler had sealed bearings. My only reserve on the Ferris is the 26hp B & S ELS. Haven't seen much good or bad on these yet. Everyone seems to love the Kawasakis. Anyone here had a Ferris siimilar to this size for a while? Curious on what you think. I hope this will last for a while. I just retired a couple mid 80's Grasshoppers w/ 44" decks so this feels quite a bit bigger. 2-3 acres seem to get mowed out pretty quick.

It runs fine up until the shut down and then won't start again. I have checked the air cleaner and it has clean gas. I did not go into the carb since it ran fine and has been running fine. I do the service on my tractors but his has me baffled..I am wondering if it could be the fuel filter...but since it ran fine I kinda doubt that. Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks

It cranks very easy, but when I pull the throttle it dies before it even gets up to 1/3 speed. I have changed the plug, cleaned the air filter and changed the fuel pick-up filter. It has new fuel in it. Since it ran fine the last time I used it I have not messed with the carberator adjustments. Any suggestions?

I have a Husky 2348 lawn tractor. It has the stock smooth tread on the rear tires, which are 20x8x8.

I have a heavily sloped property and at some spots cannot get traction. I could go side to side, but then I'd risk tipping over.

Has anyone successfully mounted ATV tires and wheels on their riding mower? I'd like to raise the machine with larger diameter tires as well. As long as the wheel width is the same, it should fit on the axle I think. And according to other Husky models, the rear tires can be as large as 23 on that frame.

I'm willing to have some turf wear in order to get up and down the hills.

Thanks, VA

My 2002 Scotts L2548 gave up the ghost and I'm needing a replacement. I've looked at JD, Cub, Husqavarna and Sears. I'm wanting to stay under $3,000.00 but like everyone else I want the most bang for the buck. I was leaning toward the Husky until I saw the Sears GT5000 Excellerator (model 28947). It has a top speed of 7.5 mph. Does anyone have knowledge of this model?
I have approx. 4 - 5 acres with lots of trees and slopes (as much as 20-30% grade). I also have a Agri-Fab lawn vac that I use in the fall for getting up leaves. The old Scotts seem to handle it OK, but since I've hooked it up to our Cub SLT2654, the Cub just doesn't like pulling it loaded up hill and I truely don't want to blow the trany on it. So, I'm looking for something with a heavy duty trany.
Most of what I've researched has been positive, except for issues with the hood on this model.
I would have prefered to have a 48" deck, but all I'm finding with the HP and the taller tires has the 54".
Open to suggestions...
