As I mentioned elsewhere, I got really frustrated that all I could find were Dwarf & semi-dwarf trees...

As I mentioned elsewhere, I got really frustrated that all I could find were Dwarf & semi-dwarf trees at the local nurseries. Although, perhaps I should reconsider some of the semi-dwarfs.

I've transplanted a volunteer Cherry tree a month and a half or so ago, and assuming it survives this summer, and the coming winter, I'll try grafting onto it next spring.

Anyway, I was at the local AG store, and they had end of the season closeout sale bare root Dwarfs for $10 each. So picked up a few with the intention of harvesting some starts and grafts off of them. I potted them since I don't want to actually plant the little things.

Here is my experimental rooter.

The container is called a Topsy-Turvy, although I may try to make my own sometime too.

I'll probably also try to snag a larger branch off of one of my more established trees too.

By rooting out branches (assuming it works), it should come out as a "standard" tree, which I can plant in my orchard. Although, I suppose the question would be whether it is as hardy as the commercial grafts.

I bought this small handheld blower today after reading numerous glowing reviews. Frankly so Ifar I am not impressed with the power which is odd since the only blower I have ever used is an electric which is really a craftsman shop vac. The wind just doesn't seem to reach out there and move stuff like pebbles off the driveway as well as the craftsman. Granted, it does not have the pointed nozzle but I am surprised that it does no blow any harder than it does based on the glowing reviews. It did take quite a while to get it to rev up strong after starting, but it seemed to have the rpms, just not the power.

Anybody have one of these?

I have a few acres, and I also take care a a few lawns beside mine, although I dont do lawn care professionaly. I don't care about the price, the Husqvarna 323L is what I'm thinking. Does the drive shaft on the Husqvarna give it an advantages over a flex shaft?

I already have a garden tractor(troy bilt gtx18 48") and farm tractor(jd 300 backhoe). Im just looking for something that wifey can mow around the house with, so thats why im goin with a cheapo 54" mower. Rightnow im leaning towards the husky YTH26V54 or the sears version cuz of the smaller tires to save on tranny wear. I know they have tranny issue's, but i plan to modify mine so i can change the fluid. Not looking at used stuff cuz the wife wants new lolol. Thanks Chris

I use RoundUp, the real stuff, in a 2 Gal. pump sprayer to keep my gravel drive clean. I also use it to spray around obstructions such as light posts etc. I mix according to the listed directions.

I often don't use up all that I've mixed, so leave it in the sprayer. Sometimes a half gallon or a little more. Often the next time I go to use it, it won;t spray. I find the screen just before the nozzle clogged with "glop" that's restricting the flow. I have to remove the nozzle and screen to clean it out. It's kind of thick and whitish looking. I can remove it by rinsing and a little scrubbing with a brush.

Anyone else run into this issue? I hate to dump and rinse the sprayer each time I use it, that stuff's not cheap.

Thanks.

In my 杜eadow restoration project the seed provider has recommended mowing to 8 when it gets about knee high. any suggestions on how to mow to 8? I値l presume a brush hog would do it be I don稚 have one an haven稚 been around them much. I only have about a ｼ acre or so to mow. I have a 318 JD garden tractor but with the deck raised full the blades are only 3.5 high. I also have a JD 4410 compact tractor but no mower for it. And I have a 21 Craftsman push mower that will go up to about 4? I牌e seem pictures of a push mower that had 壮tilts added at each wheel to get it up to 6 or 8 inches but it looks difficult to do on the Craftsman. I致e thought about a weed eater but I don稚 have one and my brother thinks I壇 be crazy to mow that much with a weed wacker. I shouldn稚 need to do it more that once or twice a year. Any suggestions on doing this economically?

Hello to all. I been looking around local for a ZTR for a while and been reading up here on this site and others. I looked at Hustler, JD, Exmart, and Badboy.
I ran across a 2008 badboy pup 23hp 54" cut for $3000.00 with 287 hours. The mower looks in pretty good shape and well taken care of. I have about two acres to mow and the Hustler is the same price but is new. I think it is called a Raptor. Leaning toward the Badboy but just not sure if those early models had issues or not. Any advice would be welcome.

Hi,

I have an MTD 20hp riding mower, and I have been trying to take very good care of it, since I cannot afford a new mower right now. It is about a 2001 model, and my this past week, it seems like everything went bad. I had to replace the battery, the drive belt, and the starter just started smoking. That is really not the odd issue. I was mowing with it today, after replacing the drive belt that had slipped off. I put it back together exactly how it had been put together since I've had it, and it worked great for an hour. I went up a hill, got stuck, and the drive belt slipped off again. The odd part is, I put the belt back on, and when I went to shift, the gears are reversed. There are two forward speeds(forward slow, and forward fast) and one reverse along with a 10 speed selector lever on the side. Now when I put the gear lever below the steering wheel into forward low, or forward high, the tractor is in revers. When I put the lever in reverse, the mower goes forward. It is not grinding or slipping. Any idea on what could have happened? I am completely lost on hw to repair this. I know how to fix the slipping belt. It needs new belt guides, but the drive being reversed baffles me. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Might not be the right place but It is as close as I could see. Does anyone have any idea what size Oring I need for the quick coupler on a Troy Built pressure washer? Last week I changed tips while washing my camper. I evidentley did not get it seated and it spit the nozzle out. I gathered it up and seated it good, but now it is a loose sloppy fit and leaks more water than comes out the nozzle. I took it off and it looks like it spit the Oring along with the nozzle. I found several sites that explain how to replace it but but can't find anyplace that gives a size. I would appreciate any help I can get

I have need to rake the sides of about 500 yards of road to remove rocks so that I can mow without ruining my lawn mower blades. The rocks range from about 1/2" to 3" diameter. I have been using a traditional heavy rake for the job and its not really working out. Is there a rake that would be ideal for this application? thanks
