Hello All,

I am wondering if any one knows where I could purchase cutting teeth (knife) rather than hammer teeth for our mulching head. We bought some from Eagle claw, The tooth works well but is a pain to sharpen due to its w shape. We are locking for something that has a straight blade and will cut down on sharpening time. Our head has a lot of teeth compared to some heads and can take some time out of your day to sharpen. Down here in east texas where everything is green and wet the cutting teeth work better than the hammer as opposed to south texas where it is the opposite. Thank ya'll for all of your help and information.

We do a lot of mulching with Bocat T300s and are mostly happy with them. My question is this we have the opportunity to purchase a 2004 GT 10 with less than 300 hours on it at what seems to be a steal, it is like new. Would we be happy with this machine? We realize it has the older head and lever steering and wondered if that was an automatic nogo even at a bargain.
We would use it 10-12 hours per day, 3 weeks on 3 weeks off.

I recently started doing some mulching. I am having some potential customers asking questions that I don't know the answers to. Can any of you guys that have been around for a while help me out?

1. If you mulch to ground level, will the stuff grow back next year?

2. Do you need to root rake after mulching?

3. How long does it take for the mulch to rot away?

4. If they want the big trees out too, what's the best way to do that?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There is a 2005 BobCat B250 with 680 hrs that is being sold locally. The seller wants $19,000 for it and it comes with 16", 24" & 36" Buckets and a 7x20 equipment trailer rated for 12,000 lbs. is this a good deal? I want to use it to dig out a creek bed to make a small pond and clear some brush and small trees and level some ground. But, is there a mowing attachment that will go on this as well so that i can use it to control the grass growth and mow a rather large field?

Thanks for your help,

How are you all pricing jobs these days???
If I give a customer an hourly rate it will usually scare them(especially with our current economy). If I charge by the acre or square foot, then I am responsible to accurately calculate the area that I cut (which can be difficult at times). If I give a price for the job there are usually surprises or they try to add areas and larger trees to the work. Do you get a deposit up front or charge when job is completed? Which way works out the best for you??

I rented a trenching machine for some work for this weekend. I got it home and set up and trenched about 20 feet and hit a pipe in the ground and broke
the large shaft that operates the chain. When i rented it they told me that the price included insurance but they didn't explain what it covered. I called and never got a return call. I'm taking it back in the morning and i,m really nervous about possilby having to pay for the repairs. It looks like an expensive job. Anyone have any similiar experiences?
Also I called the utility notification service beforehand and they had marked all the utility lines so this some kind of pipeline from long ago.

I removed the injection pump from a LS190 NH for a rebuild of pump without knowing there is no positive way to reinstall pump in gear. They are using a setup much like old Cat stuff with just a taper on the shaft and inside gear with pressure from a nut that holds shaft in the correct place inside gear (no keyway, no splines, shaft could be anywhere inside gear and out of time).

You have probably guessed my question by now, how to get engine on TDC and pump at #1. Thanks

I would like to bounce a couple ideas off you guys. I am having a hard time getting my contractors to pay on invoices. They let me finance their spec houses and custom built homes. I go two to three months between payouts. The only thing worse than no work is having work that you have paid all the wages, material, insurance, and vehicle expenses on and then no pay.

I am thinking about either a 2% discount on pay by the 10th or a 1% fee if not paid by the 10th. Which one would stimulate a payout, but not offend?
Please let me know which one you would respond to.
