. Currently most ethanol blended gas is E10 or 10% ethanol. We are now headed for E85 or a 15% blend that some areas already have. I had to laugh when I read about an interview of a Jeff Broin who is of the ceo of the largest ethanol producing plant in America. He stated he'd like to see gas at a 20% blend. When asked what will millions of small engine owners who are having trouble with E10 do with E85 0r E80 gas, he stated that he sees ethanol blends being chosen by the consumer much like octane rates are. Really. If you had a "choice" of ethanol blend, which would you regularly choose? The added cost of the special pumps with blending capabilities will add another $20K for the pumps. All of which will be borne by the consumer of course. To think, we have ethanol because George B the second passed an energy independence bill in 2007 and every senator and congressman in the corn belt conferred and agreed with. (what else would they do?). A few questions: If we get less mpg with ethanol blended gas, does the extra burning of more fuel offset advantages of less air pollution and fuel usage? 2.If primarily we have this stuff because one of its attributes was lessening of air pollution in big cities, why is the stuff all over the country? 3. With cars becoming more fuel efficient which means burn efficient, why are we continuing to bother with anything added to gas? 4. How much has our energy dependence on oil been reduced with ethanol? This just sounds like another good ole boy back room deal that has more of an economic impact than an actual one. I'm jaded and prejudiced to ethanol because of the political aspect and question its viability because of its performance or lack thereof characteristics. To me, it lies in the same bed as that other woefully inadequate No Child Left Behind government edict. How do we reduce our dependance by adding a substance that gets us as much as a 10%-20% decline in mpg?

First ...im sure this has been dicussed but I couldnt find it....and I like to do my own searching because it seelms like I learn something everytime I do my own research. ;)

...but I have a Woods rm550 (3 point finishing mower)
Just tore it down for pulley replacement, etc.,
I took apart the wheel bearings and discoverd the outside bushings that hold the bearings in were caked or gummed up. Ki da suprised grease could enter. I did get this used....but the grease I had in there seemes to be some what gummed up also.
Sorry .. I cant tell you off hand what grease I used.....I know....I know....but any how..

Does the grease gum because of dirt?

Also....fro. This people on this site recommending.... I bought some Schaeffer 238 Moly grease for the loader....and love that stuff. Best grease I found for the loader.
Since the wheel bearings.... IMO is not high speed....wouldnt this be great grease for the wheels?

I have a Massey Ferguson 1010, 2wd, straight shift model. It is my first tractor, as well as the first diesel engine I have ever owned. I typically service my vehicles, and mowers myself, and I have every intention of servicing this tractor myself. I guess I want to start simple. What type and weight of oil should I be using for my tractor? I live in Alabama, and it gets pretty hot here. In the summer time, I probably average 3 hours a week on it. I have never owned anything with a Hydraulic pump and I know that it has to be serviced, but I don't know exactly how. What type and weight of oil should I use in the hydraulics? Is there anything other than changing the fluid and the filter that I should do to the hydraulics? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It pains me to say this: I have almost 280 gallons of gasoline, 140G in each of two tanks, on my boat that is approaching five years old. The real pain comes from not having used the boat very much (not at all) in that time. At the time it was topped off I added more than the recommended amount of Stabil to the tanks. It was mixed well. I plan to use the boat this year. How can I make sure that it's useable and safe for the engines? Would it have lost it's 'octane' in that time? Can I add octane booster? Not a fan of replacing 280G's of gasoline just-in-case. Would like to be sure first. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Hello
Someone at work found an old plastic gallon jug of "power services diesel fuel supplement", about 7/8 of a full jug and thought I could use it in my little SCUT diesel. I was about to use it today but found it to be green and smelly. I thought maybe someone had filled the jug with anti freeze but the foil seal was still mostly in tact and it doesn't smell like anti freeze and it feels oily. Is this stuff safe to use or should I toss it? I'm thinking toss it or take it back to work and pour it out. The diesel supplement I bought irecently in a quart jug is gold brown in color and smells completelyl different.
