This was fence post fix and replace day. Started by making new teeth for the PH digger. When I was putting a sharp edge on one of them using a grinding wheel, I had gloves on, and the glove index finger got caught between the tool rest and the wheel. This tore the glove (only) open and made me count my blessings after counting all my fingers on my left hand. Could have been a bloody, boney mess.

Back to work.

While trimming back some small trees along the fence line with a small chain saw, I also had my chipper going full song. For this I wear ear muffs. When it was time to saw/trim some more, I picked up the saw and was startled to realize IT WAS STILL RUNNING. I had grabbed it by the handle and had given it some throttle. Yep, the chain rolled a few times against my chapps. The one knee deal again...

After that, all went well. But how bad can you screw up and still get away with it?

This crane was helping remove an 150 year old oak from someone's backyard when a large section of the trunk snapped off putting a "shockload" on the crane cable. That was enough to tip the crane on its rear supports and send the boom right through the house. Nice pics.

I was a Costco Wednesday and I had just got back to my car and was about to load up my purchases when I heard a car accelerate at full throttle in the parking lot. I looked up and saw the SUV that was parked directly across from me rapidly backing out of the space and the next thing I noticed was the driver's door is open and the driver is falling out of the car. She landed on the pavement and fell up against the left front tire to where I couldn't tell if it pushed her aside or ran over part of her. The car which had the wheel turned to the right went in a circle until it hit the third car down and came to a stop. The woman was only about 15' from me (on the ground) so I was the first to get to her. I asked her if she was ok which she didn't answer directly she just responded "I don't know what happened, it just took off on me". I still wanted to determine if she was hurt or not so I asked her if any part of her got run over and her response was "no that's my car, I was driving". She then tried to get up and went about 8' and then sat back down on the ground. By this time a women who I thought was a Costco employee was dealing with her and seemed to be dealing with her better than I could. I noticed a number of items scattered on the ground in the area where the woman had fallen which turned out to be pieces of the woman's cell phone so I picked them up and gave them to her. She than asked me if I would check her car and shut it off, which I did, but what I found was that someone had already shut it off. When I walked back she was up walking around and apparently talking to her husband on the phone giving him directions to get to Costco. So I just loaded up my car and left.

The following scenario is what I think happened.

She opened the driver's door while she was talking on the phone. Got in, keys in her right hand and cell in her left, door is still open, needed a free hand to close the door, so she put the key in the ignition and, well might as well start it. She puts her right foot on the brake and starts the car, still talking on the phone, puts the car in reverse and OH WAIT! the door is still open. Left hand is tied up with the phone call, right hand is free so she twists to the left and leans left to reach the door with her right hand, this twists her right knee to the left such that the pressure on the brake is no longer pushing down but is now pushing to the right. Her foot next slips off the brake and hit the accelerator, and the car shoots backward. At this point she is still leaning out to the left as the car accelerates backward. She needed to get back into the seat and the natural instinct is to grab something to pull herself back into the car. She reaches with her right hand, grabs the steering wheel on the right side but as she pulls instead of pulling herself up she turns the wheel sharply to the right which in turn throws her out the door.

You don't normally expect to see a car accelerate full throttle out of a parking space. If I had been just 10 seconds later getting to my car I would have been right in the path of that out of control car. Could I have reacted fast enough and jumped out of the way in time? I don't know. Fortunately no one else was in that path at that time

Here's the caption:

"For those of us who hunt or travel where there are gates on the road way?. something to keep in mind next time!

Recent vehicle incident...PLEASE BE ALERTED TO POTENTIAL POLE GATE HAZARDS AT OTHER LOCATIONS.
While leaving a private landowner痴 ranch, an outside lease operator was approaching the landowner痴 cattle guard and swinging pole gate. The rusted pole gate blended in with the overgrown brush, which made it difficult for him to see the gate. As he approached going 5-10 mph, the pole gate pierced the driver痴 side front corner of his vehicle just outside of the lights and went into his cab at the driver location. His vehicle stopped short and direct contact with the employee was only missed by a few inches. We are very fortunate and thankful that our employee was not injured. The last picture of the brush cover explains how easily this happened."

I had 12 yards of river sand delivered to my daughter's house yesterday. I figured that it would be a learning experience on my new CT225 w/ loader.
I knew from reading TBN that I had to have rear weight, but I don't have my boxblade yet. I thought that if I just took smaller bites, it would be "No problem". My first bite went in low and deep. As I lifted, I went on three wheels. I quickly reacted and dropped the load. All went well until the last load when I took an angle close to the house. I grabed a good load but had to look back towards the house. I forgot that I had my hand on the loader in the upstroke mode. The loader hit the upper limit and bounced. Both rear wheels came off the ground and bounced twice. BIG pucker factor. But, in the end the sand was spread and "no harm, no foul". When I got home, I locked all the doors and windows so that the safety police couldn't get me.
Thanks to TBN members for the information that I needed to handle the situation.

I have been more than impressed with the M59s FEL abilities, with the B/H on I have never felt any instability only a early warning or rear tire spin letting me know the rear was getting light.

Well the other day I was trying to clean up and organize after the brick layers left. I had a full pallet of blocks that where in a tight spot that needed to me moved. I had moved the ~2,700# pallets several times with no problem. This time though I swung the B/H to its stop on right hand side to give me a little more manuvering room. I had to pick the pallet of blocks up and over other pallets full of blocks, about 4.5' high. I began backing up and I guess the Left rear tire slightly crept up the sand pile behind me and as if I where in slow motion I started going over on my R/H side.

At first I thought it was the lingering affects of a recent vertigo attack playin tricks with my balance, then when I realized I was fixing to turn over I drop the load as fast as I could, it cracked the pallet but suprisingly the saran wrap kept the blocks from spilling.

After changing my drawers and regaining some composure I began to look things over thats when I found the R/F tire was real low, only had about 30 PSIG in it, that combined with the B/H swung to right and me climbing slightly onto the sandpile behind me almost lead to a potenially serious accident..

Sorry bout this being so long winded.

Some say theres no issue with it. I always beg to differ. Matter of fact our local welding supply wont load your vehicle if its a closed space. Many wouldnt question this if they knew the explosive power contained in that small tank.

have a look at this thread to see what can go wrong. Make Sure Your Gas Axe Bottles Don't Leak - PY Online Forums
