Kubota L3800, 66" QA bucket, R4 tires. 60" RC and 72" FM

I want to get wheel spacers to make the tractor more stable for mowing along slopes. Choices I see (that aren't too expensive) are 2", 2.5" and 3" spacers for each side.

From what I've read my tractor should be right at 60" wide at the rear tires (58-59 I've read). With the bucket being 66", I am leaning to going with 3" spacers putting the rear around 66" wide as well.

Would 3" (6" total on the rear) be too wide and hard on the axle? Would it be better to have the rear tires a little narrower than the bucket? Should I go with smaller spacers, say 2.5" or even drop down to the 2"?

I am thinking I'd like to go with the 3" and make it as wide as I can but don't want to hurt the tractor and maybe there are disadvantages that I dont know about with going that wide?

San Marcos, CA - May 7th, 2013 - Baja Designs Scientists constantly research the latest technologies for ways to make their LED lights better. Their new Moisture Block cord is an innovative new technology that solves one of the biggest problems that plagues LED lights water in the light. Moisture Block completely stops water from wicking its way up the cord and into the lights.

"Our lights have to be impervious to pretty much everything - dust, rain, snow, water crossings and collisions to name a few, says founder and Chief Engineer Alan Roach. "Our new Moisture Block cord system is a fail-safe way to make sure that our lights are 100% waterproof no matter how harsh the conditions are and even if the customer cuts off our waterproof connector, says Roach.

The Moisture Block functions exactly to its name, completely blocking moisture or water from working it's way through the cord and into your LED light. Even if you cut the connector off, your light is still waterproof and you won't void your warranty. Moisture Block, another great innovation in lighting from the Scientists of Lighting at Baja Designs.

In other news, the Baja Designs' Scientists of Lighting have yet another "bright" idea made better. Squadron and SII LED lights are now available in an attractive and salt water resistant white coating. These MIL-SPEC lights provide amazing light output with incredible functionality and customization.

"The Squadron and SII LED lights have been used in every imaginable condition and surpassed our expectations every time," says BD Engineer Tex Mitchell.

"I am an avid fishing enthusiast and as everyone knows, boat deck lighting can be power hungry and extremely fatiguing to the human eye," says Mitchell. "The Squadron and SII are available in four patterns and utilize uService technology which gives the pattern choices and customization that has been lacking in the marine market. On top of that, the 5000 kelvin color temperature is comfortable to the eye and provides excellent color recognition."

BD's marine white Squadron and SII LED lights boast the same quality and construction that has been proven in off road, agriculture, and military applications for more than 20 years.

Hey guys,

I'm new here and this is my first post. I own and manage about 4000 acres of land south of Houston,Texas. I have a M7040 that I use for maintenance and small projects. I have a Polaris Ranger that I use as well. I build a spray rig for the ranger that has a 100 gallon tank on a pallet in the bed. I use this for spot spraying mainly. I want to build a spray boom that is about 8 ft long that can attach to my current tank. This will be for spraying food plots and other small areas. I was thinking about using PVC pipe and a quick disconnect so I can change from the spray gun to the bar. Does anyone have any recommendations for what I want to do?

Thanks,

I have a 6ft Wallace brand Grader box which I've been using to grade a gravel parking lot. The crushed rock was very packed. I've had as many as 3 adults standing on the back adding weight with the knives fully extended downward the top link in the the shortest configuration possible.

After several hours, I noticed that 2 of the pin holders welded to the top of the square tube had cracked. Another few minutes and the pin holding the knife would have been free removing any downward force on those knives.

I touched up the holder with my wire welder. Those holders are not very heavy duty. I was thinking of a more heavy-duty solution -- such as welding some thick-wall tubing in their place. The 1/4" pins could be replaced with 5/8" pins as well.

Then I got to thinking -- why not drill holes in both sides of the box, through the side plate and run a 5/8" rod through the inside of the square tube? The side walls of the tube would then carry the downward force onto the knives. I found a good picture on the wallace Mfgr website of the grader box -- I've annotated the hole and rod location on one side in the attached picture.

Any thoughts?

The best add on was the easiest. I found an old drill and stole the handle off it. It really helps when getting up from the seat to get off. This is the best mod by far and easiest. Now I just need to shorten the range selector.

I also added some 1/2 inch black iron pipes to the bucket. We pick up a lot of palm frons and now I can carry a whole bunch of them at once. I do want a grapple bucket but this is better than nothing.

I simply welded some unions to the bucket so I can screw them in when needed

I also added a tool box made from an ammo can.

Made the bracket from a piece of scrap alum.

I found a used United 560HD box blade on Craigslist for cheap but it wouk=ld not work with my I-match so I fixed it so it would. Don't mind the yellow paint. I plan to blast the whole thing and paint it green soon.

I only had two. I set them a little narrow to suit my needs at this time. I'm not carrying around pallets at the moment, but could redrill my holes if I need to set them wider.

If I was doing it again, rather than welding on ears, I might consider drilling and tapping the forks. But this seemed to work for what I needed.

I did loose a little more dirt than I had hoped, but I certainly couldn't hold the root ball together with the stock bucket.

I bought a used Kubota RCK60 belly mower for my BX2660 two years ago. After trying to keep grass in my sloping horses pasture and elswhere at a reasonable height with a 48" Land Pride cutter, the math of adding another 12" to each cut, plus balancing the tractor with the mower mid-mounted won me over. The unit had been used a bit and the two years of service on our farm put some wear and tear on the mower. This year, I decided to get an additional set of blades so I could rotate them between sharpening/servicing. But I also need to replace the Anti-Scalp Wheels.

I had been eying the Anti-Scalp Wheels w/ Bushings & Axle Bolts w/ Grease Fittings that Mower Deck Axle (Mower Deck Axles,Carrera,Cayman,John Deere,Kubota) sells. My two chief complaints with the stock Kubota design is that the wheels are just plastic with a grease fitting. Granted, they aren't terribly expensive. But they wear excessively on their axle bolt and the grease fittings are notorious for staying attached to the grease gun when you try and service them. The plastic threads in the wheels strip out pretty easily. While this seems like a simple complaint, it always seems that when I need to lube the wheels, the grease fitting is stuck in the grease gun nipple which requires trips back and forth to the tool box for vice grips and other tools when what I really need to be doing is mowing. While pricey at $140 for a set of four, the Mower Deck Axle units have axle bolts that have been drilled and fitted on the very end with a grease fitting. The wheels have a metal bushing pressed into them that fits around the drilled axle perfectly. When you grease the axle bolt, the grease exits through a hole in the middle of the bolt, placed in the middle of the bushing. There is no wallowing out of the plastic. There is no accidental removal of the grease fitting. All in all, it is an excellent piece of design and practical thought!

Now all I need is a set of their axle stands with the 5" wheels so I can roll my mower around the garage!
