Hi
I have read a few threads that relate to this situation but I now need more specific details on the hydraulic part.

I have a 75" Meteor Snowblower that I have been using on my 3 PH. I believe it should be possible to run this blower attached to the FEL. Understand I need a hydraulic motor that turns at 540 RPM to run the blower and I believe I would supply hydraulic power one of two ways:
1 - from the tractor which has a 13.5 GPM pump (not sure if this is enough power)
2 - from a separate PTO driven Hydraulic Pump using a 20 - 25 gal hydraulic reservoir (this could be on a 3PH and provide balance for the front blower)

I am confident my friend the welder can fabricate the quick hitch but I need some advice on Hydraulic component sizing and sourcing.

Anyone done this and able to provide lessons learned.

Appreciate any comments.

A Canopy Question

I have a question about tractor canopies. I was about to try to fabricate one for my CCY EX3200. I've looked at various posts, as well as the pictures shown on various canopy manufacturer's websites. With this info, I started sketching when I ran across something that triggered a question.

When I measured the ROPS and the operating area, it measured that the top of the ROPS was about 62" above the operator's platform. I got on the tractor and saw that the measurements were correct. In the sketches, I had the bottom of the canopy about 6" over the top of the ROPS. At 6' tall, if the canopy was installed as planned, my head would hit the underside of the canopy if I were to stand up.

Would some of you guys with canopies tell me about how much the mounting brackets raise the canopy over the ROPS? BTW, I don't stand up to operate the tractor, but there may be situations where you need to stand, if nothing else when getting on and off. What am I missing here?

But I am pretty handy with an air nailer and a saw. I know there has been other man lifts posted here, but them ones I remember were all fabricated with metal and a welder. Since I neither have a welder, or even know how to weld (wish I did), here is what I came up with a few years ago. Works a lot better then standing in a bucket, or even on a flat platform with no railing. If you can stand on a deck, you can stand on this. I have used if for a number of chores, the best one being trimming trees around my place. The railings lock into the forks back plate and there is a safety chain in the front you hook up once your in. It is also chained to the loader so it can't slide off the forks, even if you do for some reason or the other. Thought you welders might get a kick out of this one.

I'm looking to mount a rearview mirror inside my tractor cab like the ones that the bigger Deere tractors have in them. Most of the ones I've seen mount in the upper right hand corner of the cab.

There has to be a cheap aftermarket source for stuff like this, but I've looked in TSC, Shoup, Harbor Freight, and Princess Auto without finding what I'm looking for.

I suppose a fellow could mount, say, a 4" or 6" round convex blindspot mirror from a truck inside the cab, but I'd prefer one of the rectangular ones that would look like it belonged there, if you know what I mean.

Anybody done this or know where a fellow could order one? Well, besides a factory Deere or CNH one that'd most likely be quite expensive and not easily mountable in a Kubota.

Here are a few pics of my bucket hook solution, I mounted 4 pieces of 2.5" square tubing to the top edge of my bucket. I then got a thick wall length of 2" tubing the width of the bucket, I then made a couple of hook adapters. I used weld on 5/16 chain hooks, D-Rings and large tow hooks from the front of S10 Pickup for hooking straps to. I dimpled the 2" tubing in the center and directly in front of the cylinders for easy alignment. I drilled and taped set screws in everything so they fit tightly and don't rattle.

I had this question while reading the thread about the HF metal cutting circular saw, but didn't want to hi-jack that thread.

Is there a 'rull of thumb', or a guide, one can use to determine the size and length of bushings and pins for a project? While reading the thread mentioned above, Larry included some nice pictures of his bushings and pins. How did you arrive at the size you used?

I've got a couple of projects that I want to do over the winter that will have bushings and pins, and am just curious what you experienced folks use. I've got a couple of lathes and a BP mill. I've made some bushings and pins in the past, using whatever material I happened to find in my bucket of small pieces left over from other projects. I just went with whatever size seemed to be right, not knowing if there is a guide of some sort.

Thanks in advance

My BH has seen very little use in the past few years, in fact I was gonna start a thread about the "loneliest little Hoe in town"
But anyway I did have a couple of paying jobs for it this year.

Worked great but realized quickly why some guys were doing this mod, as I tore up a customers lawn pretty bad and made alot more work for myself, trying to back fill a long drainage trench dragging the teeth across the grass.

Made this out of some surplus plow blade about 36" long, really did the trick on some test runs. Put a chain hook on at the same time.
Ialso had an issue of the pto being at such an angle the two halves didnt overlap much. This leveled up the shaft alot more.
It worked real good and im real happy with the customization of this.
I hope they come out with a 14 Chop saw style with this blade and RPM. I cut some 1/4" mild steel plate at a rate of 6" in about 40 seconds and even tried some 3/4" and at a rate of 6" in about 120 seconds. I bought the warranty as I am getting ready to start the fab of a grapple and I will put it to an endurance test on that project alone.

I was working today in the garage on a few projects like a Skid Steer Quick Detach By # point hitch and I think it turned out ok. I will have to await till it warms up to paint it though. I tried out a sub soiler that I adapted to go on in the forward direction. I am going to use the sub soiler to tear out roots and pop out rocks. I think I will need to be careful because of the mechanical advantage the subsoiler has, it will not be as capable as it is on the 3 point hitch, but it will be useful in a different way.

;) I do think I kinda stole this thing, I was at the local salvage yard today and found a JD Commercial mower being parted out, I looked it over and started seeing what I thought could be made into a 3-ph finnishing from the deck of this commercial mower, it has a gearbox and a drive shaft very similar to that of a tractors PTO shaft, I went to ask the person about how much it cost, he said any mower deck would cost 10.00/ Yes! TEN /5+5=10 ,I ask him would be the same for commercial type mower decks? he said yes all mower decks 10 bucks. OK I got back there as fast as I could and started pulling the easy remove quick connecting pins, and had it off in 5 minutes,:D
they even load it with the fork lift for me, ;) ofcourse I've been doing business with these folks for over 20 years, and have always felt I have been given great deals, But I almost think I stole this thing,:D
It is all intack only thing is missing is 1 wheel, the blades are still good, the sheet metal has surface rust but not rusted thru anywhere, the gearbox and pully's move freely,........................ So I guess I got me another project lined up to work on, But I still got to get the ROPS for my tractor built first,
anyone ever converted or customized anything like this? can help with some
pointers? it came from a mower like in the picture below, and the other pix is the actuall mower deck,

Thanks
