Over the past few years I've unearthed plenty of objects that I wasn't expecting. So what treasures  have you found?

Last summer I was stopped dead when using the rippers on my grading scrapper. Someone had used two sections of stainless steel duct work as a culvert. I think each section was only 3' long so the 6' duct wasn't really wide enough to work and soon the downhill side got blocked with dirt and silt filled the duct turning it into a heavy anchor. I'll try to take a picture of the duct and post it (I know the rules, no picture it didn't happen).

I've found various vehicle parts from a master cylinder to a leaf spring. The leaf spring was laying on it's side and when the blade caught it I dragged it for quite a bit because it was under the tractor out of sight. The front hit the edge of the pavement at the end of the drive and broke a chunk off before deflecting to the side where I could see it. I have one section that had PVC pipe used as a culvert. Over the years it has broken into pieces and each year I dig more of it up. The odd thing is that there must have been more than one buried since I have found, white, blue, and green PVC. I found a section of chain link fence, that was a surprise. All of a sudden I was low on power. When I looked back all I could see was what looked like the whole driveway being dragged behind me. I think I have found almost everything (except for the endless amount of rocks) there is to find.

So has anyone else been as lucky as me?

I have a dilema. I am moving alot of dirt. Digging a moving is covered, but I really have no way to spread and pack the dirt that is dumped. I have been looking to buy a small dozer to fill my needs, but I also a have a MF1529 CUT. I have come across an older Case 310 dozer and the guy wants $2500.00 and I also come across a MF1405 subframe dozer for the MF1529 for $1800.00. The question is what would be better?

My Pros/Cons:
Case 310 - Alot of work time/money to get running right, but it's a dozer w/ 6-way blade and can push more
MF1529 w/1405 blade - Cheaper, but is lighter not pushing as much and unstable at steeper grade.

Those are my thoughs. Is any one setup better than the other or will it get the job done?

So I'm looking to buy a rotary cutter/ bush hog. There is all kinds of brands and options out there. I have a ford 1715 that has 27hp and 23pto horsepower. I'm being informed(by the salesperson) that a 5 foot cutter is the largest size this tractor can handle. Im good with a 5 footer. My question is about tip speed. Does a cutter with 16000 tip speed have more cutting ability vs a cutter with 13000 tip speed? I'm not worried about the quality of the cut, im not using it for my yard. Its going to be used in brush, and tall grass. I want a cutter that does its job without overworking the tractor. So :confused3: maybe what I'm asking is which cutter has the most torque to power through some hard cutting? A high tip speed or a low tip speed?

Hello,
I have a question about Cub Lo-Boy tractors.......the ones at least in the 1970's, not with the offset steering. I cut my own firewood from my property and most of the time use my 16HP garden tractor (without a mowing deck) and a small trailer to haul it back to my splitting area. I also have a New Holland 35Hp 4wd tractor with FEL, backhoe and cab. It's kind of big to get to some of the places I go on my land. The only problem I have with the garden tractor is that (even with chains on) sometimes it will slip and spin if the load is real heavy because the tractor doesn't weigh enough. So I thought I might be able to get a tractor in size somewhere in between the (2) I have. I got to looking on the net and ran across a Cub Lo-boy. They weigh 1500 pounds but most are around 14HP, maybe one model has 16 or 18. This doesn't seem like much power for that heavy of tractor considering that my garden tractor has 16HP. So could they handle the job of hauling a load of firewood with that little HP? Are they a dependable tractor or prone to lots of problems. If anybody out there owns one, please give me the scoop !!!! Thanks !!!!

Hi, Im new to the site and just recently purchased a Mahindra 3616 shuttle. I currently have a bush hog brand Bh that I am wanting to attach to my unit. Can someone please post a few pics of the mahindra factory BH subframe? I would like to see the entire system from the front to the rear of tractor ,and the part that attaches the bh to the subframe. I am probably gonna have to do a little fabbing to the BH to accept the mahindra style mounting system but wont be a problem. I was going to fab the whole bracket system myself, but after much consideration I am thinking that I should use the oem brackets so I wont run into a warranty problem later. I don't want any excuses of my homeade fabbed bracket being the reason my tractor broke. You know Propaganda at its best. Thanks in advance for all help Jason Robin

I talked to a dealer the other day and am debating on what loader to go with. The H340 or H360. He said the main difference was going to be lift height by like a foot. We bale 5x5 bales and stack 3 high in the barns with skid steers. We have two skid steers and use them for all our loader type work. Bale beds on trucks do most of the feeding but every once in a while we are either axle deep in the mud or get 18 inches of snow then the trucks don't do so well. Need to put a good loader on for feeding hay when we have to use a tractor. So what loader do you guys suggest. Tractor is a Jd 7230 131 engine hp. dealer quoted 8,000 for the 340 and about 1500 more for the 360. Thanks

Dear ??? HELP!!
paid in full for new holland wm55, several implements, and a bradco 509 backhoe with a thumb. Our New Holland dealer said it would be on a submount and husband thought that would be good cause less on the 3 point (excuse my terminology as I don't know a lot about tractors however, unfortunately I do know when I am getting the run around. I want to put an informed STOP to this but I need your help!!
We were told in December that the said backhoe would not be in for a few weeks....I will save the bulk of the run around:confused2: and cut to the quick...
we recently learned that bradco was actually developing, constructing pattening a backhoe for the workmaster55 which is why the delay (would have been nice to have known this before APRIL!!!). Anyway...I just got notification that they have their (New Holland dealer told me they had to ship a wm55 to bradco to construct a backhoe..ehm! finding it hard to swallow that NH would tie up a tractor for FIVE MONTHS for bradco to engineer the 509 to fit the wm55??!!!) Anyway, I asked about the submount being permanent and effecting the clearance of tractor as well as the operation of our 501 farmi winch...
Well he said..."it shouldn't" very wishy washy answers...i do know the backhoe is going to be BOLTED on so i just have a TON of concerns!!!
i allowed them to pick up our tractor from property friday, but said NOTHING is to be done till i go to them at 3 tomorrow...
Unfortunately, my husband is away and im not really sure he would know a whole lot more than me...
Can anyone take a stab at this please?
Thank you!

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone out there has found a good site for free service and parts manuals. I can't find much.i really just want a service manual for my NH 316 hay liner. It's disappointing that companies aren't obligated to offer manuals on their equipment for free. Vermeer is really good, if u send them a serial number they will send out new decals, service, parts and operator manuals for free for safety purposes. Farming is one of the most dangerous jobs on the planet and any safety instructions should be given freely. If anyone has a manual or knows a good site I would appreciate it. Maybe we should start a large online collection as a community. Thanks

Battery replacement on this tractor is a real ordeal plus 10. After 4 years using the machine, the factory battery just died. Had to buy a new replacement; only place available was from a local NAPA parts store. But first I had to get the old battery out of its niche in front of the radiator! That was a genuine ordeal. The area where the battery is hidden small. Mahindra must have assembled the tractor around the battery. How I ever got it out is a big mystery such that I cannot describe it; you'll have to experience it. I had to get the battery out because the NAPA parts store was going to charge another $18 if I didn't hand over the old battery plus $108 (including California 9.5% sales tax)! Batteries are assigned a number by an international standardization organization. The tractor came with one designated: BIC 58 -- so this pretty much leaves no leeway in shopping around for me. In trying to find out how to get the battery out of its obstructed nesting place, I figured well, just remove the obstructing brackets and the engine's air filter assembly. Found out that all of the nuts on the bolts were welded down. I guess Mahindra didn't want anyone taking off the air cleaner -- probably under the orders off the environmental mitigation engineer?? So, if you're going to put in a new battery, have fun.
