Hi folks, it's been a while since I visited.

We have moved 1000 miles south from Brisbane in Queensland Australia to just outside of Melbourne in Victoria.

In the process we have bought a 200 acre ex-Angora goat farm that we are now living on.
Life is good and we are close to family again.

My problem is terrain.

Our old place in QLD was as flat as Florida.
Our new place is hilly with rocks and contour ploughed ditches.

Now, I know I will have to get a new tractor to suit[recomendations appreciated] but I would like to keep the old green meanie for jobbing work around the place. Mowing, postholes, raking etc.

At the moment it has rice tyres on the back and light truck tyres on the front, filled with water.
The rears are reversed to give wider track.
It also has ROPs and around 120kgs of weights on the front.
It is only 2wd.

Is there any way of fitting smaller wheels to lower the Center of gravity?
It won't be going back into any rice paddies and I don't need all of the ground clearance.

It might be prohibitively expensive but I might get lucky.

Regards to all.

Noisy tach cable - or is it the tach that is noisy?

I am gradually cleaning up some minor neglected stuff on the YM186D I bought last summer.

The tach cable sounded noisy when I bought it, and the tach needle was jumpy. The cable core looked well oiled so I rubbed it down with a paraffin block. That quieted it for a while. Now there is jarring whine for a moment when I start. I thought the starter might be failing to disengage but then I noticed the tach needle is jumpy again.

I found that the noise is sensitive to where the tach cable is routed. If I could tie it down in just the right location it would stay quiet. But moving it causes the screech and jumpy tach. It seems the racket comes back whenever the cable pushes sideways (or inward?) where it enters the tach. The screech sounds like stripped gears in the tach, and the needle stays past maximum rpm.

Has anyone seen this? Was it the cable, or the tachometer?

Replacing the tachometer cable looks easy but doing the tach would mean removing the steering wheel and dashboard, probably an afternoon project.

Hello!

My name is Tomaz and I am writting from Slovenia, Europe.
I am a new owner of this tractor. When I bought this tractor, I didn't receive any instruction manual for it, because it is old and I bought it from an older farmer, and he lost the papers.
I would be really happy, if someone could provide me this manual for my tractor.
If yes, you can contact me via email:
zelkoow@gmail.com

Also the problem with my tractor is, that it looks like it was somehowe imported from Japan, because all the letters and words on my tractor are on Japan  so I can only look at them
If anyone is an owner of this tractor, please contact me.

I hope someone will respond to this thread.

Thanks all in forward.

Bye
p.s. I am sorry for any mistakes in my language.

I was just searching for alittle history to be more familiar with my Yanmar, and was curious....... I know yanmar built John Deere's compacts up until 86' or so and still provides engines for some of their compacts. Did Yanmar also share their powershift transmission with John Deere for compact tractors or is this an exclusive to Yanmar?? All Ive ever found on this subject, is that tractors are pretty much either manual shifts or Hydrostatic these days....

My powershift 1610D is so handy for normal use that I cant believe other brands wouldnt be using it. Does anyone have more insight on this topic or know more history surrounding Yanmar and John Deere's relationship with compact tractors??

hi all yanmar fans,

Long time, no post.

My 1601d was still running good up until about two weeks ago when I broke it (oops). I was changing the fuel filter assembly and where it attaches to the block/head (can't remember which) and it broke a cover in two. Now I have a nice hole to the engine that I don't want!

I've attached a couple of pics of the area and the part I'm looking for. Does anyone have this part? Know where I can get it? Hoye doesn't have one and I've tried getting one fabricated but am running out of options.. The tractor has been down for awhile now and needs to be working!!!

Thanks for any help / ideas or leads you might have for this part.

(in the 2nd picture you can see the fuel filter assembly at the bottom of the photo, the hole is where the "cover" goes and the assembly connects to the eyelet on that cover)

I noticed a fuel/burning smell while using the YM2210 today, I thought it may be running hot but after inspection I noticed there was fuel slightly leaking out the rubber fuel line that comes off the top of the fuel tank where it connects to the injector. It also seems to drip when enough builds up here, the rubber hose slips off VERY easy, its not tight, it has a yellow pull tie on it but fuel seems to seep its way out a little at a time..My question is, is this loose rubber hose the main cause of the leak or is it something more? notice where I mention a SMALL amount of bubbling in the lower part of the photo, is the gasket leaking or is that where the fuel is burning off resulting in the smell i smell?? how can I stop this from leaking?

I think its the rubber hose leaking where it connects, but when I noticed the bubbling I thought it may be more, tractor cranks and runs fine, no power loss or anything. Thanks for the help

I cut down a scrap of half inch thick foam (neoprene?) floormat to where I could jam it into the underside of the hood, and it stays there when I open the hood. This thickness barely touches the air cleaner and misses everything else.

This helped reduce noise. The tractor is about as loud but the crispness of the 2-cylinder 'Yanmar hammer' is muted a little. It was less tiring to spend a couple of hours on the backhoe. It still could use a lot more sound reduction.

Has anyone found something that works to muzzle that racket? I wonder if you could paint bedliner right onto the lower, cooler half of the engine block? Think it would help?
