Did I tell you I am home? 11 Months... Wow.. We have a guy who is getting divorced staying at the house so someone is watching over the place, and he is picking up the slack and mowing...

That said, I am realizing that the PT is not a tractor that should be driven by anyone but the owner.

It turns out that the overflow line from the wheel motor cracked. and has been leaking. I swear he must have stopped using it just as the oil nearly ran out. I looked in the oil tank and while there was some, boy, it was not nearly enough. At least 15 quarts low. Ugh...

Anyway... More issues to come...

Why hasn't anyone just welded a mini-skid universal plate to the stock pt plate on the machine, changed the hydraulic couplers over to the mini skid steer type and simply buy mini skid attachments instead of using PT attachments that are somewhat higher priced?

I think this would be the way to go and would save a bunch of money in the long run. Let's face it, it isn't that difficult to get off the machine to move two spring loaded levers. More than likely, you have to get off anyway to attach the hydraulic hose......anyway, just a thought.

Just a quick post in case someone never thought of it.

BobRip mentioned releasing pressure to hook up attachments. Since the high presure connects are too expensive, i just replaced my quick attach connections with standard flat face. Still, sometimes i need to hold the lever all the way up for one connection and all the way down for the other (man times, if holding the lever is necessary, connecting the first allows me to connect the second without holding the lever). To aid in this, i keep a rubber tied down strap wrapped around the ROPS support. When needed, i connect one end to the lever above the plastic grip and the find an attachment point for the other end. By the way, do not use the pedals to wrap the strap around if you are forgetful and might not detach it before starting the tractor. Do not ask how i know! Fortunately, you realize right away lol.

One of the problems with my PT 2445 is the limited dump height. I just can get to the edge of the cement mixer with the 4 in 1 bucket.

I began to research (started with TBN search) for an alternative and discovered "High dump bucket' attachments for skid steers. Essentially it is a bucket with the pivot at the front of the bucket. It allows an additional height for loading trucks.
Anyone have any experience with this typ attachment? Since PT doesn't make one, I'm develoiping plans to fabricate one.
We'll see if plans turn into relaity.

As it happens, I was trying to list my PT425 for sale under the Classifieds just at the time that the mods were overhauling TBN's classified ads policies over the last 10 days or so. Not surprisingly, the ad was lost in the black hole of Calcutta.

For those who haven't seen it yet, all "private party" tractors & equipment for sale are now listed in a separate new sub-section of the "Marketplace" which is near the bottom of the main DISCUSSIONS page. The "Tractors for Sale" tab on the homepage only lists items for sale by Dealers. Private party items are not listed there.

For anyone interested, my PT ad was just posted this week in the private party section.

I cannot find the pictures of my failed attachment at this time. It was a ditch cleaner scoop that goes on the 2 inch receiver and fills up with dirt so much you only get one use and then it needs cleaning bad.

Are there other brands of Augers that will fit the PT Planter head. You may recall it is about 3" id on the Head.

In searching posts some have said that Tractor Supply augers will fit, but not in all cases.
Thinking of a 12" and 18" auger to set poles with, needs to go 3' deep.
Looking to see if anyone has found a good sub for the $$$$$ pt auger.
The last backhoe I used was on a Kobota and loved it. Controls were smooth and sensitive. All the valves were tight and the boom stayed put!

With the PT unit the boom drifts down and the boom up is weak. The side to side movement seems pretty limited too.

Enough sad sack, Do I have a bum uint or have others found the PT backhoe to be lacking?

I put a new head on the 22HP Robin engine on my PT422 and have it almost complete except for the throttle and choke connections. I made some notes but want to make sure I got all the springs in the right holes. I'm having the PT towed to Ditch Witch and having the valves adjusted and the float position rebuilt on the lift valve. I would appreciate it if someone could post a picture of the connections. Not sure if it matters but the oil filling cap is black and on the side of the valve cover.
Thanks

Does any one here know anything about the kellogg air compressors. there is an eighty gallon tank 5 hp one for sale near home. She said that she was pretty sure it was a two stage compressor but didn't know if it was a single phase or a three phase. She said it was pretty old but hadn't been used much. She is asking $600 for it, is that excessive or is it just that I don't know much about that particular brand of air compressor? I know from reading on the net that in 1971 they sold out to another company and according to that article quality suffered in order to make it more competative product.

Well my hydroback cable finally broke. JJ, (or anyone), did you find a source other than Power Trac? I have reviewed all (I think) of the posts related to the problem, but found no model number or source, other than possibly Tuthill. I have a 2522: any help is welcome. Thanks.
