Boy, this tractor buying decision is getting old; I'll probably be too old and feeble to climb on a tractor by the time I decide what to buy !

I think I've got it narrowed down to one of two brands, however; either the Kubota or the Kioti.

Today, I stopped by a Kubota dealer just to see what trade ins he had.
There was a L3430 about 4 years old that has 400 hrs on it.
It looked in very good shape, like it had been stored inside. The R1 tires look like new. What really impressed me, however, was the GST transmission. I had read about them, but until today, had never tried one. I was pretty set on getting nothing but an HST tractor, but now that I've actually driven one with GST, I'm thinking that I would rather have the GST. One thing that I had always assumed was that you still had to use the clutch to operate the shuttle. Not having to use the clutch at all and having the benefit of no HST power loss appeals to me.
Actually, I'm beginning to think that I would prefer the GST even if there were no HST power loss.

The L3430 tractor, however, does not have a loader. The dealer has it priced at $11,500, and will put an Ansung SSQA loader on it for a total price of $14,900.

Are these prices high, low, or about average ?

The only thing about the Ansung loader is that it attaches to the mid and front of the tractor only and doesn't have the reinforcing bars that go to the back of the tractor like the Kubota loaders do. The dealer says that he can't get a Kubota loader for this model. He also says that even if he could get a Kubota loader, that the tractor is not stout enough for the 7xx series loader and that it is limited to the 5xx series loader. However, I have read about a lot of L3430 tractors on here that have the 7xx series loader on them.

Anyone know what model Woods loader is recommended for this model tractor, and about what it would cost ?

The dealer has priced me a new tractor, L3240 (about 1 hp less) with GST trans and Kubota loader for $21,210.

So, the question is; which would be the better buy ?

The used L3430, 400 hrs, Ansung loader, no warranty for $14,900 ?
Or a new L3240, 0 hrs, Kubota loader, warranty for $21,210 ?

To complicate things, a Kioti salesman calls me today and tells me he has a special deal on a new DK40SE with a 12/12 shuttle transmission and 401 loader for $18,500.
Five more horsepower, bigger tractor, much more powerful loader, and even a few bells and whistles that the new Kubota doesn't have. But I really don't think I want a clutch transmission.
(By the way, are all 4 gears on the DK40 synchronized, or just 3rd and 4th ?)

Decisions, decisions, decisions !

Somebody, anybody, help me out of this tractor overload !!!

Thanks,

Hey guys,

I have a 2005 CK 30 HST with the Kioti loader and aprox 140 hours. I am selling my land in VT but still would like a little tractor for my new house in boston. My ck 30 has been garaged all it's life and is in living in my sister-in-laws house in VT. Should I just list it for sale or do you think anyone would like to trade up? what is the value of the the tractor?

I would like a ck20 or Kubita BX series or JD or NH.

Thanks for the comments. I got the advice to buy the Kioti from this forum 4 years ago and bought it from a dealer who is a member.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the help they have given over the past couple months. Once again, on my second tractor purchase, this board has proved to be a priceless resource of information, specs, opinions and experiences.

After a long, hard-fought battle between many tractors-both several brands and several models, not to mention several dealers, I decided on the Kioti DK35se/KL351 combo. The features, size & loader capabilities are what I was looking for. Though I still think it's a little big, I'm sure I'll grow into it, as I did with my Kubota B7610.

I looked at Deere's 3320/3520, Bobcat CT235/335, Kubota's L3240/L3540, Massey's 1635, Case's Farmall 35/40, New Holland's Boomers and of course Kioti's CK30/35 series. Of those the choice was pretty clear to go with the DK35se.

Throughout this journey, I have learned more than I would have ever thought I would. I've met several great people along the way, both at dealers both locally and 100 miles away, and here at TBN. Thanks to all the great folks. There truly are some really great folks out there, for many of the brands I mentioned above. (of course there are the stereotypical used-car salesmen too)

Oh, almost forgot, my DK will be delivered next week.
And I know, I know..... I'll take pictures.

Again, thanks.

I stopped by my Kioti dealer for some service parts yesterday. He has a brand new 5 foot belly mower for a CK20 at a very good price. I don't have a need for it but I thought someone else here may. The belly mower was taken off a new tractor. If your interested call Steve at (478) 272-5888.

Hi,

I have found a local used 2004 Kioti DK45 with Loader. This model has the 12 forward and reverse speeds(no hydro). Only has 150 hours on it and appears to look like new. He is also throwing a box blade, landscape rake and post hold digger/auger into the package. Price is $12,000 for all. Attached is a picture. Seems like a really good price? Thoughts?? Any issue with this tractor in general?

Thanks!

On Kioti's website, the DK35SEHST is shown to have 38 gross engine hp and the CK35HST is shown at 34 gross engine hp.
However, the PTO hp of the CK35HST is shown at 26.5 hp whereas the DK35SEHST is shown at only 27 hp, just 1/2 hp more, even though it has 4 more gross hp.
Surely, this must be a misprint, or else there is something about it that I don't understand.

Also, the DK35SEHST PTO is described as 'hydraulic, independent', whereas the CK35HST is described as 'live'.

I think that I understand the hydraulic independent PTO as being actuated by a hydraulic clutch pack. How is the 'live' PTO on the CK35HST actuated ?

And could this actuating difference have something to do with the gross vs PTO hp difference, or is that just a misprint ?

Thanks,
