Lots of shopping and factory stores in Pigeon Forge...there are a few Kitchen stores there my wife really likes to visit..great shows and attractions..lots to do in Pigeon Forge...we like that better than Gatlinberg for shopping and shows. Have a great time....

I forgot to mention...in case you don't know there is a Harrah's Casino in Cherokee, NC which should be on your way if you drive...

For a little extra driving there is the Great Smokey Mountain Knife museum at Sevierville.I love going there and buying knifes and bayonetes, be sure to go to the back of store and look at the collections on USA made knifes and GI equipment...Nice motels in the area too, plus it is not as crowded as Gatlinburg..

I was raised "DIRT POOR" in EAST TENNESSEE-we call the area "GOD'S COUNTRY". I was born in 1951 and at 18 years of age-1969, I went to Gatlinburg for the first time-42 years ago. Gatlinburg was built up quite a bit, but Pigeon Forge only had three motels, a Sinclair gas station, a DOGS and SUDS, and several small eateries. We stayed in one of the motels there because of the BIG price difference. If memory serves me correctly, our motel cost $16.00 compared to $38.00 in Gatlinburg. I was in the area about 9 years ago, with the sole purpose of taking my MOTHER there before she died. I could not distinguish, at that time, where Pigeon Forge ended and Gatlinburg started. If it weren't for the posted signs, I wouldn't have known. They even had a Free TROLLEY that you could take to various places of interest. It breaks my HEART to see all the DEAD trees on top of Clingman's Dome. I cried both times when I read the inscription on the MEMORIAL at the top. Enjoy yourselves, but if you get the chance, check out the Memorial. It will make you proud to be an AMERICAN. By the way, Dolly Parton was raised in Sevierville. When I was a KID, "Dolly World" was called "Silver Dollar City". Here's wishing everone the Best of Times.:):)
