Manual I have is for the A model, not Super A, and has a date of 1941, whereas my Super A is a 1950. The lubrication chart in the A manual says to open the clutch access door on the left, put a grease gun on the fitting and give it 10 pumps. That's a lot of grease for one bearing.

The previous owner replaced clutch and bearing a few years ago. Said that the old bearing was not a ball or roller bearing at all, but rather a piece of bakelite. That seems weird.

Seems to me a sealed ball bearing throw out bearing shouldn't need grease to begin with.

Whazzup?

Manual I have is INT. 5462 8-14-41-4B.

I've greased a few throw out bearings but 10 pumps seem a lot to me. The one in my dump truck only gets a couple pumps on occasion.

Op manual for mine is out in the shop, but I have an old Gulf Oil Co. lube guide the calls for greasing the to bearing sparingly, every 1,000 hrs. I wouldn't give it more than shot, and do use some pretty decent grease in there. The cheap stuff will get hot and sling out.
