Escorts to exit tractor assembly operations in US

This news release, dated April 27, 2010, says Escorts has decided to close its US assembly operations... (2 years after it went into receivership and the assets were sold to Montana Tractors!!!) ... and instead set up distributors that will distribute fully assembled tractors from India. (!!!!)

I wonder if they are truly planning on coming back, and if they would dare to use the Farmtrac name again? They also build and sell under the Escorts and Powertrac names in India, but Farmtrac is the brand used for their global efforts.

All manufacturers will want to sell here.
It will be interesting. With the issues and the prices of Farmtrac tractors at an all time low, who will risk distributing these tractors .

There are several compinies here in the states, that are in need of a 2 wheel drive tractor. Escort can sell tractors to them with no warranties. Just keep pumping out product, and wheeling in the cash. Just keep in mind that everyone that purchased tractors from them in the past, will never forget what they did. Would a company risk taking on there product with the backgound they have established for themselves here?
