A dealer near me is selling a new Farmtrac 555 (50 hp) 2Wd with front end loader for $11,000. Does this sound like a deal?

What kind of new tractor warranty is he giving ?? :D

I have a FT60 which morphed into the FT555 in the mid '00s and has been one tough tractor. The tractor was in previous life the Ford 3000-3600 series tractor. My biggest dislikes is operator ergonomics. The rear 3 point lift is down by the right foot and the 3 cylinder diesel engine is loud enough to kill brain cells.

For 11000 bucks its good price for a new old tech tractor.

Hey, you peeked.

That's the catch - no warranty. They've got these in exclusively as liquidation, cut the price to sell but offer no warranty. They said the price is nearly 50% off the normal price, that's what I'm fishing for, whether this really is a $20,000 tractor or not. It's being sold as "used" even tho it's brand new.

you're getting a great deal for several reasons. 1)Farmtrac's are TOUGH to sell(you almost have to give them away) ever since they went under. no dealer support anymore makes it tough to sell a tractor to anyone that has the sense to do 10 min of research online and read about the Farmtrac debacle. 2) good luck getting parts for it. yeah you can get some parts at NAPA and the like, but what happens when you need a specialized part? 3) no warranty. again, it goes back to no dealers left to stand behind the product.

take your $11K and go find you a good used old Ford tractor. theres tons of them out there in good shape around that price. i see them everyday in the local trader paper.

i wasn't insinuating that you didn't have any sense. afterall, you are on here asking whether it's a good deal or not, right? that's what i meant by doing your homework. being interested is one thing, buying blindly is another. those Farmtracs are decent tractors. i personally have never had any interest in them when they were a company, much less now, but that's just me. if i wanted a tractor "that was like the older Ford tractors" i would just go buy an older Ford tractor and be done with it. i would just hate to see you spend $11k on something when i know you can take that same money and go buy a tractor that you KNOW you can get parts for and that many people know the ins and outs of(tons of Ford owners on this forum). you don't want to know how many posts i've seen with Farmtrac owners that need a part and are having a tough time locating one. don't do that to yourself. there are a LOT of good solid used tractors out there in your price range that still have tons of life left in them. i think you'll be much happier in the long run to keep shopping around and find something that is going to be much easier in terms of locating parts, having access to folks who can steer you in the right direction if problems ever arise, and when the time comes are alot easier to sell.

Just rattling yer chain. :)

I've decided against a Farmtrac, and I think I'm also gonna hold out for a 4WD.

Thanks for the responses. Forums like this rock.

I know this is and old post. But had to comment anyway. The Farmtrac 555 is the same as a Ford 4000 not the 3600. As far as parts any part you need you can get from gwsequipmentinc.com. These are the old Ford tractor with a few improvements, and why buy a 70 model for the same price as a 2008.

Agree.

My other blue tractor dealer (FNH) has the same part issue with the older Ford tractors as the Farmtrac. Both of these size tractors (FT60/555) are made by Escorts of India so most parts are the same with the exception of parts Farmtrac upgraded. I can get certain parts from a area old Ford dealer that became a FNH dealer and I can get parts from my old Farmtrac dealer that sells Kioti now.

The FT60/555 Farmtracs doesn't have the Ford 4000 type of rear housing or rear wheels.

You can get almost any part you need from these guys, although some may be expensive to ship as they deal directly with Escort in India. I got a ring and pinion from them. We have a 555DTC that we got for 27k with a Back hoe attachment. I think in about 2005. We have beat the crap out of the tractor and the thing that let us down was the pinion bearing carrier bolts coming loose.
Again ,this guy is GREAT to deal with and is even there on Sunday.

Parts for all Farmtrac Tractors Models
