But again, the OP's question was about HIS tractor.
Question remains. Is his model an Escorts?
It would help him, I believe, if we knew the answer to that.

I have a 2005(?) Farmtrac 555DTC with a bale spear and 4 ft bucket that I NEED to sell. It only has 173 hrs on it. What are my chances of selling it for $9000? Just need a little feedback please.

Just put it on Craigslist and see what response you get. If you want $9K, ask $9500...so the buyer thinks he's getting a great deal.

I googled 'Farmtrac 555DTC' and didn't learn much. What little I found tends to indicate India. (So Escort).

FWIW this outfit in NY State claims to have parts for this and for Mahindras.

And elsewhere somebody said this model is a India-built clone of the older Fords.

Does somebody have the information to settle this? Is it a real unsupported orphan?

This dialog is important because any informed buyer is likely to ask these very questions. TractorData clearly shows it as Escorts of India, which makes bringing in the entire LS conversation irrelevant for this model.

There are some good solid reports on the internet of people being quite happy with parts procurement, so that's encouraging. Can you not hear the first potential buyer asking, "So, who services these around here?" or "Who sells parts for these around here?"

If this is an Escorts, which it looks like it is, this will effect re-sale value and helps explain the low prices netted at auction reports of TractorHouse.

Roy's point is a good one. It sure doesn't cost anything to put it up on Craigs. As I said very early on; If the phone rings, there's interest.

I think an owner of a 550 already knows the tractor was made in Korea. Take a look on the left hand frame member along the front of the engine on the serial number tag. It says made in Korea, by L G Cable. It is the same tractor as the 530 model. In 2004, they changed the model number, decals ( refering to the new Farmtrac name & model number) , and went to engine gross hp.. trac

But is a 550 from Korea the same thing as the "2005(?) Farmtrac 555DTC" described in the original post?

I agree the owner needs to look at the SN tag and identify what he has because that will affect buyer interest and price.

Hdgrany, work with us here. What do you see on the tag?

My FT60 is a '00 model with the big flat fenders. Love those big flat fenders.
Sometime around '05 Farmtrac changed the numbers to a 555. My tractor is a Escorts of India made tractor. Its a 192 Ford three cylinder diesel with the 3610 rear axle/tranny and front axle setup or at least the photo of the 3610 Fords look the same.

My former FT dealer still has a few Farmtrac parts on hand but can order them. I also find my area New Holland dealers (former Ford dealers) can still get parts for the Escorts made Fords and most parts are the same.

At this time parts are available but what dealer wants to stock many parts if its a 3610 Ford or FT60/555. Escorts still makes the 555 and sells it globally.

I see Farmtrac 555/FT60 going at all prices. As Trac says the hours/location/tractor condition and how bad the owners wants to sell/etc will determine final price.

I never sold any of the Escort tractors prior to 2005 because they didn't have a front wheel assist tractor. The India tractors just had to be 4 wd to sell up north here. We could sell all the Korean compacts we could get because of 4wd, but supply was extremely limited. Escort wanted to sell more of their tractors, but the Koreans out sold their units, at least up north. They finally came out with the Farmtrac 60 in 4wd, but very few. They got in more when they changed the number to 555, but by that time, I just didn't want to sell them. I think they wanted to try to sell more of the Escort tractor. That is why the numbers were so close and confusing to the public. trac
