Re: This years Deer
Congratulations. Was that opening day? Rifle Deer Season opened today, but I didn't see a single animal. The season is two months long, so I'm sure it will get better.

2 seasons ago. It still puts a grin on face. Weighed 240. For my area it is pretty much a deer of a lifetime.

My opinion for most any bodies area. If it weren't for bad luck I would have no luck! I am a young doe magnet so my bow stays ready. My family is from yazoo in the big black swamp, I still have no trophy. Wife brother cousins cousin in laws have all had some good ones. I just tell myself the big ones fear me

Great deer and very finelooking knife. Thanks for sharing. I had a buck that could have been the twin of yours at 30 yards Friday, but never came out of the brush clear enough for a shot (still bow season here) until he was too far out, about 60 yards.

No it was the 5th day ours started early this year Oct 27 and ends,....I think the sat after thanksgiving.Yea on the tv the texas shows are like, " well we saw 67 bucks today but no shooters" no offence but we all laugh a stuff like that.If you hunted all 30 + days including Muzzel loader season for your entire life like maybe 60 years you most likely would never even see 67 deer in the woods much less 67 bucks.I am quite sure that those shows are bull and that is not indicitive of a typical hunt but less than 10% of hunters get a deer in maine each year. We have a large cyote and turkey population up here. We have had a couple of easy winters of late so we are all in hopes of a better season.Good luck to you and yours and theank for the compliment.Jeff

Re: This years Deer
Well broke the ice;shot a nice 8pt.180lbs this morning. This is the nineth buck I have seen and the first with a decent rack.Lots of spikes and four points.I think this is the one my daughter-in-law missed last wk.I had six does in front of me first thing and a spike came out of the swamp to bother them.Had a couple of the does directly beneath the stand and thought I would get busted.I noticed a large doe at 150 yards and right behind her was this buck.Took the first shot I had and he dropped in his tracks.I was using my favorite gun;TC Encore in 25/06 with Nosler partion bullets.
