Heres some more questions i have,
What do you recommend for row spacing of corn?
Can you seed it close together? (Like through a seed drill, rather than a planter)
Or why can't you seed it in narrow rows?

Thanks in advance

Is this field corn or more like sweet corn for a garden?

In my garden, I space the rows 24 inches apart and the seeds 8 inches apart in the row. Corn is a variant of grass, it likes to be crowded to grow well.

So what would an ideal spacing for corn in the garden be?

You can use whatever row width you want. It is your garden. The Ag experimental stations are always trying various spacings to see what is ideal with the newer varieties. Soybeans used to be planted in rows, now they are mostly drilled. You need to answer yourself a few questions first. How will you cultivate or spray for weed control ? If by machine, plant row spacings to accommodate your equipment. If by hand, plant so you can walk between the rows. How will you harvest ? If by machine, plant row spacings to accommodate your equipment. If by hand, plant so you can harvest without destroying other rows of your crop. If you have ever walked through 7 foot high corn stalks you would understand.
