how bad is the center? rarely do i see them so bad that they could not be fixed.. even the hat centers.

the rims on the other hand.. if they are really bad.. then you usually replace with a 6 loop rim. even the hat centers will fit the 6 loop rims.. etc.

if your rim isn't too bad it might be saved.

it's amazing what you can do with a torch or angle grinder, welder and a drill.

When I swapped rims and tires from my 9N to the NAA I was unpleasantly surprised to discover that the original rims on the NAA had rusted to the center (under the paint) so bad that when I separated the parts most of the metal on the center flaked away and I was left with centers that had a paper thin edge where the bolts go through.

Replaced them with modern centers which as you know are so heavy they can double as mini-wheel weights. :)

yep.. GOOD 6 loop centers can be heavy. :)
