Where does the hp differences come from between my 640 with a 134 and a 601 series with a 134

different size... 01 had a larger mouth.

really minor differences anyway....

all new manifolds are the big one too.

i have a 601 carb on my 600 with a lil farm engineering and filing done tot he oem manifold making slots out of holes with a rat tail file.. same gasket will fit too..

So I could put the larger intake and carb on the 640 and it should have the same hp as the 601 series

I really don't know, but what is the engine hp on the 640, tractor data shows 48 for the 601 series

Your 640 should have around 31hp. Tractordata doesn't always get their horsepower right one these Fords. I have an 861 which is 48hp. Tractordata shows 62. The hp ratings in this link are pretty close as far as I know:
