    ok.

keep inmind you can pull the head in about 2 hours.. that includes taking all her clothes off first.

head itself is a 10 minute job to remove. if all ok.. toss back on with new gasket.. etc.

i might look at the lower end too.

if the crak is coming out.. I'd go ahead and pop the top. check out the liners, pistons, rings and valves.

this also means you should be looking at the clutch.

repalce freeze plugs while split.. all of em.. especially the hard to get to ones.

53-64 are my prefered line.. with 55-64 rowcrops my favorite. IE.. 7xx, 9xx, and 2000/4000 4 cyl rowcrops, plus the 541 offset.

mainly I like the red tiger OHV engine they went to in 53. 134, 144d, 172G&D and 192 versions . plus some LP models.

I like the rowcrops due to the sleeker front end.. especially the narrow fronts. plus the drop axle rears with more ground clearance.

also.. in 55 hyd add on valves became very easy with a common bolt on valve body.

the 53-54 had this option.. but it was a different valve and are hard to find.

the 8n was pre external hyds.. pre ohv engine.. and pre live pto as an option.. as well as pre PS.

all things you an get optionally on the 00/10+ models ( for the naa as well.. )
