I've been working off and on the last couple months on this tractor & since the internal hydraulics were weak (I wasn't sure at the time if it was the pump or the cylinder etc...). I have decided to make this tractor a dedicated TLB. (I've had the backhoe for a year & just now getting to it). Valves are in good shape on the BH, but my subframe is homemade, so I have had to modify the hook-up & that is still in progress.

It is still going to be removable, but I have no plans of doing that unless necessary. I already have a front mounted pump 23 gpm that I use with the MF 200 loader, so I have removed all internal hydraulics, boxed them in a Rubbermaid container & fabricated cover plates for all of it. I have a 5 gallon reservoir on the loader, but the specs for 713 call for about 12 gallons. I wanted to use the internal sump (and maybe rear axle)? for a reservoir. I know I've read about this being done, but I can't find any info. when I need it. I have ideas for plumbing it - I just wanted advice on the internal sump & maybe the rear housing as main res. There is no leakage between trans. & hydraulics. Presently, there is in rear end, because I removed PTO components for later use as well. (Built a cover plate for the side).
I've got some pictures of what I've done - any help on this project appreciated!

SoundGuy has helped me figure out the plumbing (using my old Hyd. sump as add-on reservoir). The main-frame is now modified to fit the tractor & it can be removed if necessary, but after the work is completed, I hope to seldom remove BH, FEl, or sub-frame. the 713 seemed to have issues with the main frame cracking (most all I have seen were patched), so I incorporated 1/2 plating down each side & 1/2 plating welded to the back of cab w/6 bolts on each side for support.

A little more bracing to do on the front side, but nearly finished with that. There is only going to be one seat - it is going to run on tracks (channel) & run up angle to backhoe controls (car seatMay 25th, 2013 - backhoetractor work 030.jpgMay 25th, 2013 - backhoetractor work 033.jpgMay 25th, 2013 - backhoetractor work 038.jpgMay 25th, 2013 - backhoetractor work 049.jpgMay 25th, 2013 - backhoetractor work 056.jpgMay 25th, 2013 - backhoetractor work 057.jpgMay 25th, 2013 - backhoetractor work 066.jpgMay 25th, 2013 - backhoetractor work 075.jpgMay 25th, 2013 - backhoetractor work 079.jpg motor). Then spin around & raise it to a comfortable level. (It kinda works like a ski lift). Hope to get control valve finished & start putting things back together.

Varmint,

I hope to have the BH back operational by mid-June....(if everything goes smoothly). But as far as finished, LOL - at the speed I work, it could be this time next year...especially if I keep modifying the modifications....!

After looking at the options for tapping into the sump for additional reservoir, I figured my best bet (shortest distance & largest opening) was to fabricate a blank plate cover to replace the existing relief valve cover. I figure I can weld black pipe with exactly the angle & drop needed to be a straight shot into main res. I also plan to use larger diameter pipe than the intake line to help assist flow (I've been reading the Womack hydraulics books for ideas & they recommend larger pipe). BTW, if you are like me & struggle with tractor hydraulics - Womack's books can really help, especially understanding basic concepts.

I've added a few pictures of the relief valve & it's cover plate (excuse the mess in there, it's getting cleaned up).

I also experimented with paint, so I did a wee bit of priming as well. Here's a few of those pictures as well. But, I must confess I have batted around several ideas for paint scheme & after this first attempt - I have decided to go back closer to my original paint scheme. (It isn't traditional...I hope that won't offend anyone). I just don't have the knowledge or expertise to get the paint colors to match original, so I'm going to be doing some more tests on the paint....but I don't want to get sidetracked on that too much yet.

Just to clarify, I'm cutting a hole in the blank plate to weld the pipe! The original & the relief valve are stored for future use.
