My brother is looking at a later '60s 4cyl. diesel 2000, overall it's in pretty good condition, good tires, swinging drawbar. Haven't heard it run and the man wants 1500.00 for it, I think we can get it for a 1000.00. Any thoughts?

March 21st a 2000 with a gas engine and freeman loader sold for 3700. No new paint or tires owner had died 8 yrs before. Family did not run the bidding up. Southwestern Ohio.

that would have to be a 63/64 machine if a 4 cyl 2000

the fact it is a diesel mens it has the 144ci diesel.. unless it has been swapped.

the 144 are getting $$HARDER$$ to find parts for.. but otherwise, all in all.. the red tigers were not bad engines.

i personally prefer GASSERS from 53-64 and DIESELS from 65+.. however.. they all get the job done.

1500 $ OR 1000$, if it runs out good, is a great price.

In that era I would try to hold out for a gas version as Soundguy prefers. Dad had a new 62 (last red) 801 gas and had a friend that has some with the diesel engines and some with gas. The diesels needed a good battery to start I remember. The gas ones are so simple to rebuilt and parts are common too. Down south diesel starting should not be a problem due to temps. :)

What transmission does it have?
