I get and install a new starter last week, life seams like it's getting good. I changed the plugs out today, messed with the thing a bit and it wouldn't start after it had fire up about 20 times or so. WHAT the fug, so I figured the solenoid was bad and changed it, absolutely nothing, did a direct short to the starter post, NOTHING, a brand new starter going bad in less than a week, what are the chances,

Could be a bad starter, but a double check ground connection(s) from engine to battery also.

I know it's a bad way to check but I popped the lead from the + to ground, got a really good spark so I think the ground is good

is the starter stuck with drive gear engaged into flywheel?

Ok so I pulled the starter, hook it up to a battery, and it spins, for a time or 2. Bump it with the palm of my hand and it will spin for a time or 2. roll it over and it will spin, for a time or 2. Am I missing something that bad or??

sounds like sticking brushes ... time to take it back and ask for a replacement ( or at least have them check it )

bad brushes / problem or the armature is worn out.
