Mower won't idle

Yardmachine(MTD), 16.5HP. Got it back from mechanic that put in new piston ring. Everything is ok except engine won't idle when I pull back on the throttle when in Park, just runs full throttle. Rather than load it up and take it back, is this something I can easily fix? Thanks.

What engine does it have? Briggs? You could try and adjust the idle stop so it keeps sufficient idle speed.

Where would I look for that screw? I've looked around the carburetor and the gadgets that attach to the throttle cable, but not sure where it is. Thanks.

My nearest professional repair shop is 20 miles away, so been using a local guy who works another job, and it's just not easy to get it done under those circumstances, but he fixed it this morning. Living in small towns has it goods and bads. For me, the goods outweigh the bads. Thanks everyone.

He adjusted a spring loaded screw on the carburetor. Was that the idle screw?
