Massey Ferguson is offering 0% down, 0% interest for 72 months and up to $1000 rebate on compact utility tractors. You might want to check out the MF 1500:

That looks like the tractor I want, but way too far from me, and I'd doubt the dealer wouldn't take a long distance trade. I like that better than the X series b/c it's more like a real tractor.
The X seems like a beefed-up garden tractor.
.
The X series are garden tractors is why it seemed like a garden tractor.

Have you thought about getting a used BX?

Yes, the only thing is I wouldn't get a warranty (or just a little bit of a remaining warranty). The JD X has a 4 yr/700hr warranty.

Basically, the only think the X doesn't have is the 72" deck. Otherwise it's OK on price, engine, 4wd, hydro.

Does anyone make a very large garden tractor with a 72" deck?

The 1528 is the smallest MF that can take a 72" deck. It's like $16,000

Having been SCUT shopping fairly recently, I can say I don't recall any 20+ hp, under $10K tractor that is offered with a 72" deck. I think about the closest you could come is a BX2360, JD2305 or the like with no attachments and then get a 72" rear finish mower. I think you might be pushing the PTO hp limits, but going bigger on the tractor puts you further over your $10K limit. Maybe a slightly used version with some remaining warranty would fit the bill. I know the BX1860 (18hp) lists at about $9K for the basic tractor, but I don't think you can run a 72" RFM off of it. The 2360 is over $10K list. Kubota use to include the loader valve in the base price, but I don't know if they still do. If so, you can delete that for some savings.

Can't go rear finish mower, gotta be MMM.

Closest I got so far (new) was the Deere X748, but only 62" cut. Gonna see if there's a used NH or Deere compact with a 72" that's low hours, maybe still under warranty.

Yes, the Deere goes up to 62" on that model, most others max at 60". The 72" MMM requirement is tough if you want to stay under $10K with the deck. Good luck.

Yes, the 72" mower seems to be the deal breaker. I think it's because you need a longer tractor chassis to handle it and that costs big bucks.

I may go for the X here shortly unless something real interesting comes up.
