Default 18 to 22 hp briggs intek

I just bought a new lawn tractor from Sears and it has the 21.5hp
Briggs & Stratton Intek engine. I was comparing engines and noticed the 18 thru 22 hp engines all are same displacement. What
is different on the engines to affect the difference in hp?

Don't know, but maybe they have different max RPM ratings or some have OHV, so they breathe better and make more power from the same displacement....

    Outboard motors do likewise.

20, 25 & 30hp motors are same engines with different carbys on them.

    Crude hey??
