Oliver 1950 MFWD refresh
Hi everyone just thought i would share some pics of a current project we are working on for a buddy of mine. Its a late 1960's Oliver 1950 MFWD with 4-53 GM diesel.
We spit it apart replaced main trans shaft due to worn splines, Rebuilt transfer case, new pto seals, built new 4wd shift lever mechanism, and in process of repainting. This is goin be a working tractor so its not flawless.

Re: Oliver 1950 MFWD refresh
I grew up near Ridgeway Missouri. The Oliver dealer there was Shepard Equipment Co. They were one of the oldest Oliver dealers in the U.S. They converted to White and just closed a few years ago.
The first MFWD tractor I ever saw was an Oliver. I remember seeing it demonstrated at a plowing contest event locally. They had a tandem disc hooked to it and in 2wd. The driver buried the disc and tapped the brakes until he had the rear axle spun down on the ground. Then the announcer talked about how much hassle it would be to unstick any conventional tractor, but this is no conventional tractor. The driver then engaged the MFWD and it pulled itself right out. As a ten year old kid used to farming with 2wd equipment I was HIGHLY IMPRESSED.
There's a guy that lives just down the road from my farm that has a fairly large collection of Oliver equipment including several MFWD Olivers.
I too am anxious to see yours completed. Thanks for posting.Richard

Re: Oliver 1950 MFWD refresh
Oliver was one of the first to push MFWD , but it never caught on . The rest of the world has had FWA for years . Why did it take so long to catch on here . Now it's not a tractor unless it is MFWD. 2 very nice tractors , you should be proud . I thought Ohio was a little flatter than that . Good job .
