International A414 gearbox leak

Hi everyone
New to the site and looking for help with my poor old A414.
It developed a gearbox fluid leak from the brake housing same side as the diff lock pedal. After removing wheel, guard and brake housing the leak was found to be coming from the splined shaft the brakes slide onto. The bearing is shot and I tried to remove the flat plate the looks to be holding the bearing and seal but cannot get it off. I have been told that I need to remove the hydraulic lift from the top of the diff housing first and remove most of the diff! Is it possible to remove the plate only.....

To TBN from USA. I can't help with that problem as I have never had that tractor but I am sure that there are people here who can.
