My father spent 37 to 58 in the Marine Corps, mostly as a combat engineer. An old friend of his sent me a set of pictures taken about 1949 or so when they were the active part of a Marine Reserve unit in Baltimore Maryland. Any idea of what make and model tractor?

Thanks, and sorry if these is the wrong forum!

Last one of them clearing snow. I'd love to be able to ask my father what kind of tractor it was but he has been dead for about twenty years.

Thanks again and sorry if this is the wrong forum.

I'd post that over on Yesterdays Tractors crawler forum for positive I.D. but I'm fairly certain that's a Caterpiller tractor. Not sure of particular model #.

If you think it might be an IH you can ask here in the IH Construction Equipment forum. There are plenty of guys there who can ID old IH stuff.

If you think it might be a Cat then ask over on the Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club (ACMOC) site.

ACMOC forums

This should help you identify the crawler. My guess is that is an old IH TD.

I think the TD-18 has dual exhaust stacks.

Some maybe, but definitely not all.

The TD experts over on the IH Construction Equipment forum are the experts. They will identify that picture in no time flat.
