Welding over head. Use a large wet towel for a blanket except this time forgot the wet part - Dumb. Finished the bead and saw smoke then fire.

Anyway there is a hole burned in the black vinyl seat. The vinyl is adhered well to the inner sponge so there are no loose flaps. I don't really care what it looks like I just don't want it to get any bigger. Any recommendations ? Thanks.

90 mph tape aka duct tape in black?

Ouch! I would be upset if I did that, however...
They make vinyl repair kits. Use a good one and hope for the best!
My Wife's Uncle owned an upholstery shop and tore the seat on his Harley. He used a vinyl patch to repair it and it worked.

Maybe fill in with black RTV and smooth it out best you can. I know, it's a redneck thing. Tape will get loose and stick to your britches.

I've used contact cement.

Sand the damage smooth and rough up an area about half again as large as the damage.
Coat the area with contact cement (Weldwood is good) let it dry while making a patch.

Cut a patch out of some polyester cloth. Not the stretchy stuff! (I keep old shower curtain liners around)

Saturate the cloth patch with contact cement. Working between sheets of clear plastic (a baggy) makes the job easy.

Remove the patch from the baggie and let it dry for about ten minutes. Apply the patch with as much pressure as the seat foam will allow.

Let it all dry for a day and spritz the repair with gloss black spray paint.

Done!

Its clear, but it really works on vinyl . Won't get gummy and slide around like tapes do after awhile (type B): TEAR-AID® Repair Patch Official Site - For Fabric And Vinyl Repairs

Thanks - some good suggestions. Tape would be OK but I'd like to try harder than that so I'll probably try a kit or CalG's Weldwood patch.

I saw a YouTube guy who used PlastiDip. Looked too easy ! Has anyone tried that. I have some liquid wire insulation which might work similarly ????
