Ariens YT-12 Tractor

I recently bought this tractor used. Good little tractor. But the gas cap says to mix oil with the gas. I realize it might not be the original engine, which I tend to think it is. But is this correct? I've heard of mixing oil with gas for chainsaws,weed wackers and dirt bikes, but a lawn mower? Is this correct for this mower or I am thinking it might not be the original gas cap either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I don't think Ariens made a 2 cycle yard tractor.
Maybe someone changed the gas cap.
I had a YT12 with a 12.5hp Briggs and it was gas

All of the 12 HP units Ariens made were 4-stroke. What mower deck do you have on it? 32 or 38'? Gear or Hydro? They were also sold under the Gravely name as 1232-G or H and 1238-G or H with either Briggs or Kawi engines
