I would like your opinions on Gravely walk behinds. Will be mainly used for mowing with 30" deck, and pushing snow. Should I stick with an L model
or one of the newer models with Kohler engine?

I am just one opinion
I like the C10A and later models
There is a factor Gear that can be used for repower in case you need.
The L models are a favorite of a lot of people.
Of course I have made up some gears for repower of the Models L,C,C10.
Some people don't like how heavy the 12 Hp Kohler are.
Thanks Bruce g

I looked at a 520 yesterday, would this be a capable unit. I had a super convertible in the past but it didn't seem as powerful as alot of people said it would be. Maybe it was wore out, I had the chance to sell it at a profit so I did. Should I be looking at the higher horsepower models?

I believe the 520 is 8 Hp
so If you want more power then you 7.6 you would need more power.
One way is to repower with a bigger Kohler engine.
or Buy a 10 or 12 Kohler gravely to start with.
Or The 13 Hp clones sure makes the gravely do there thing.
The 16 is even stronger.
It cost about 300.00 plus engine to repower with a clone or different engine.
With a 1 inch Crank shaft

GAS ENGINE 13HP CAST IRON SLEEVE RECOIL START 13 HP - eBay (item 180592317767 end time Mar-25-11 11:28:04 PDT)

Manual start.

So if you can get the 520 cheap enough.
and want more power you can repower.

The 520 I looked at is priced at $575.00 with only a snow blade.
Is that a fair price? It seems to be in good condition. Thanks Mark

I would look for a 5000 series or newer. The newer the better.

From what I've been looking at, that sounds like good advice Richard.
Thanks Mark
