I have no experience with Vermeer.
A 644 or 648 in very good to excellent condition will serve you very well.
Any baler you choose will be troublesome if it hasn't been cared for well.

I bought a Vermeer 5420 Rebel in the spring, I am very pleased with it so far!

I have a Rebel 5400, it is a good baler, I don't have net wrap though.

From what I've seen of New Holland balers they seem to eat damp hay better where a Vermeer will sometimes clog, especially at the beginning of a new bale.

what size tractor do you plan on pulling the silage special with if you decide on that 1.you need atlest an 80hp tractor to pull it.

I have a 75 hp New holland would that be enough have a John deere 375 right now it is a 5*4 baler. Would like to get a 4*5 baler because we have to haul all our hay and 5*4 bales are to hard to haul, and would like to have the net wrap option because it seems like they don't lose as much hay when moving them around. Anybody used the bale command much, or had any problems with the new holland 644 or 648 balers ?

I disagree. I pull a Hesston 560 (5x6 baler) with 72 pto hp and have no problems. Sure you have to downshift when going up steep hills but it does just fine. Just got done rolling up ~300 cornstalk bales with it and some of the fields were very hilly.

Yea I think it will handle it I rented one last year and it seem to do pretty good . Is the accu bale pretty easy to use? Does your 5410 rebel do pretty good if you hit green spots in the field? If I hit very much with my 375 it gets wrapped around the roller .
