Having trouble getting my lely four basket tedder to spread hay evenly. It has two positions for the tines and a few on wheel height but haven't found the right combination yet. Mostly work in thick fescue grass and it tends to make two small rows instead of flat even distribution. Any advice on set up or ground speed would be appreciated.

Slower rpm and faster ground speed for less spread. Sped up rpm and slow down will spread more. It can take awhile to find the best combination, especially if you have limited gear selection.

How long you let it dry will also affect how it spreads. Here in mid tn I like to let it set one day. I prefer to use low rpm and right speed to lightly lift it up in the air and criss cross in a tall pile .good airflow but sun doesn't bleach it so bad. Leaves slight rows of bare ground so sun heats it up.
