Hello, I got a chance to get a MF 36 Hay Rake tomorrow for $400. Being new at all this I was wandering how good of a rake is it? Any tips on using this type of hay rake (side rake)? I doesn't come with a manual so i have no idea how it works. Are parts still available for it? Anything I should look for when I look at it to know if it will be a good buy or a money pit?
Thank you.
Corey.

Is it PTO or ground driven.

I've used a mf 36 for the last 3 years. It was in rough shape when I bought it but it did the job well. Paid 100 bucks it crapped out this year. The internal gear drive sheared and I haven't had time to fix. They are fairly common so gettin a wrecked one for parts is easy enough. They are easy to use. Check the ground drive universals for excess play.

It has been great for me two years running. The tines can be bought from TSC. The two hole type not the single hole. But it does twist a tight windrow overall. If you want fluffy this does more rope type windrows. It is Very heAvy. It will hurt you or someone if not careful. Easily worth the 300 I paid. CG
