Now I need to figure what chain Gauge to run, I think it has a .050 on it now, My Rancher has a .058 set up, It would be nice to run the same chain, should I run both of them on .050 or .058?

I run .058 on all mine, except one .050, but it doesn't really matter.

Get the 346 and match the gauge used on the 562 and don't worry about the Rancher, it won't get used much with the other two saws in the mix.

The Rancher has .058 and I found out the 562 has .058 also so Ill stick with the .058. Not sure what other bar I am going to get for he 562 it has a 20 I may get a 18 or a 24, I already have two saws with 18, not sure if I need a 24 though.

How has the 562xp been holding up for other folks?

I have one that I cooked. Had it for about 4 1/2 years, perhaps 20 cords of wood (if that). Cut up a huge cottonwood ([44" at the butt; tried a 24" bar and it just didn't like it- not sure why- put my 18" bar back on and it just snowed chips- I was buried running both side of the trunk). Saw started getting harder and harder to start and then, well...

Only shop around (I didn't know they existed) doesn't appear to be very sharp at all. They claim to have diagnostic software, though at first they acted like I was nuts to suggest that you could plug in and get some diagnostic info out of the saw. I have little faith that they'll be able to get me info on how the saw was operating before it died. I told them that if I didn't get such info that I would be walking away from Husky.

This saw was a perfect firewood saw. I don't think that I'd enjoy using any other saw. But... after what I believe is an early death I don't think that I can risk a repair and then another failure. I've read so much on these saws, about there being some really good ones and then bad ones. Likely I've got a bad one; don't know whether it can be made into a good one or not. So...

Anyone get a bad 562xp? If so, what did you end up doing? Is there anyone out there that could get me the saw that I was expecting to get in the first place? Retrofit and perhaps port?

I have a Jonsered 2260, it's basically a 562xp with a small bar mount... I have nothing but good things to say about it!!

There were issues with the 562's over time but they have been addressed. They are definitely a great saw. The latest carburetor and keeping the software updated seems to work best as far as any performance issues are concerned. Plug it in for diagnostic information? If it's going to say something it will say air leak, better to have a dealer that knows what a pressure/vac test is.

I love(d) my saw a lot. I really don't think that there's anything else out there like it (still). I'll see what these novice repair folks have to say (whether they did a probe or not- don't think they did a pressure/vac test, though I have to wonder whether that would be of much use given that it's essentially cooked). Chances are I'll just break down and buy a new one, a ported one from Terry Landrum: check with him on what he thinks. I figure that if I get a good saw that it won't need to see any service folks for a long time (of course, that's what I figured when I bought this one!).

Tom, the diagnostic software fetches other information, such as run and idle times and peak(?) temperature (I believe).
