I'm in the process of ordering a JD 3720 Cab; 3rd function valve to run skid steer attachments and an electric diverter kit. My confusion comes with how will these valves be controlled? My dealer is saying I will need to remove my hand from the loader control to operate the grapple. That sounds a little a$$backwards to me. Should there be an option to just presss a buton on a special loader joystick?

Dealer says he hasn't sold a electric diverter before so he isn't much help. The book shows a switch on the right panel for the electric diverter but that forces me toi take my hand off the loader control.

Are most grapples operated from a manual valve like the loader or is it operated by an electric switch?

Is there a better way?

Lee

Switch should come with diverter valve kit. either an assmbly that slides over the joystick or a button on a bracket that clamps on the side. Mine was a Fasse kit with a new handle that clamped over the old one.The led lights on pick and there is either a push button or a toggle. I do not know if they sell the handle separate.
not a real good web site

The Deere 3rd valve handle is only inches away from the joystick. I don't have a problem moving my hand to use my grapple. I had a Fasse diverter on my previous tractor that had a button zip tied to my joystick. It worked well but sometimes I had coordination proplems and got mixed up. The deere diverter has a switch on the console. You could probably run a switch to your joystick. JC

The 3rd function valve is operated from a lever that is installed next to the rockshaft lever, and the outlets (couplers) are mounted on a bracket on the rear of the tractor. Some people run long hoses from these coupler to the FEL to operate a grapple.

The diverter kit you talking about (with the switch on the fender) is a kit that diverts fluid from the DCSV ports where the loader plugs into to a set of four couplers also mounted on a bracket on the rear of the tractor. When "active", the joystick would control a implement or TnT setup on the rear of the tractor.

The setup that Sunset posted about is an electric diverter kit that adds the replacement joystick handle, this kit "diverts" fluid from the curl/dump circuit to a set of couplers mounted at the front of the FEL that would hook to a grapple, so when the switch on the joystick is pressed moving the joystick left and right opens and closed the grapple.

What skid steer attachments do you want to operate? Most have very high flow requirements and you tractor will not operate them, plus most are to heavy!

I am planning on just using the grapple and maybe a tree shear in the future. I have ordered the tractor with TNT, 3rd valve and the electric diverter kit. I thought it best to do it now rather than later.

So if I wanted to use the joystick option with the grapple I would need to unplug the TNT?

Is there anything that would allow the 3rd valve to be operated by a switch on the joystick? Maybe I am just overthinking this issue. It just seams to me that if it deals with the bucket/grapple it should be on the joystick.

You better check the specs on that tree shear, but the grapple will be no problem.

At least one of the T's, either the TOP or the TILT, unless you get the FASSE diverter for the FEL like posted above.

No, it's a mechanical lever.

Possibly, but if your like me, you want what you want!

I agree, but it will cost you about $600.00 more for the Fasse diverter for the FEL. Probably a small price to pay in the long run especially if your are financing...

Here's what I used with my fasse valve, which is mounted on the FEL arms on my Kubota. I found a Hurst shifter knob with a thumb button, this would normally be used for a nitrous setup in a car. It was about $40.00 + shipping from Amazon but it's widely available on the net. I also installed a rocker switch in parallel on the dash for when I want it locked into the 2nd outlet. Also installed a set of pilot lights on the valve so it's easy to tell that they're working. I used a bosch relay from the switches to control the power to the solenoids. If anybody needs a schematic and I'll draw one up.

Nice setup Don!

I also forgot to mention that WR Long also has diverter kits for you FEL as well...just another option to consider.

You say you are getting the Deere diverter. That is what I have. To use it, you flip a rocker switch, then use the joystick. I should not be hard to find a switch to put on your joystick and not use the rocker switch. I don't think you need to get another diverter. Also, you did not mention that you got this, but Deere has a kit to run hoses and quick connects to the bucket/grapple. It plugs into the rear 3rd valve or the rear diverter connects. JC
