Several, all used and abused.
I have a pair of Stucchi disconnects on my tractor. I've connected thema and disconnected them three times, but today, I can't get them back together.

On the side of them, it says "Stucchi A-F-A130S 1/2 NPT-106 Italy"

My guess is there is too much preasure on the hydraulic lines, but short of breaking open the line to release the preasure, I'm at a lost.

Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

Thank you,
Eddie

Eddie:

I think those are very similar to the ones I have on my JD 110 TLB.

They are a huge PITA for me to hook up.

As you surmise, the problem is too much pressure on the implement side (you can bleed the pressure on the tractor side to nothing).

One way to handle this issue is to move the implement into the shade, or otherwise wait for it to cool off, and the thermal expansion of the oil which caused the problem will reverse itself, allowing you to make the connections.

I use a caulking gun to persuade the connectors to go together which has almost always worked for me. The cut out heavy washer is necessary to keep the force from deforming the mouth of the caulking gun.

The permanent fix is to buy a pair of extra connectors, plug the pipe threads on the backs with plastic plugs, and put the extra connectors on the implement every time you take the implement off the tractor.

Many of the Stucchi connectors will mate perfectly with Parker connectors, so you can obtain the extra connectors you need locally.

Dave,

Thanks for the pictures, I was thinking that's what you meant, but then thought, no way, that can't be right. hahaha As luck would have it, I happen to have a few caulking guns, so I'll give it a try. It can't be any worse than standing there stairing at it!!!!!

What we really need is a bar clamp with U-shaped pushers on it, but since I don't weld and don't even have a welder, the caulking gun has to do. It is not pushing in a straight line, so it gets bent a more than a little in the process, but I have done this 10-15 times now, at two connectors per time, and am still on my first caulking gun. I do keep a spare on hand.

The extra connector route is really the right way to go. When you plug the pipe thread on the back of the connector, keep the plug loose. You want to keep dust and water out, but allow a slight pressure leak.

Haven't posted in a long long time, but I saw this coupler post. I cussed, cried and prayed over the QD's on my skid. Then I got this tool and now I sing hymns spontaneously at times. Hope it helps, there are a lot of posts with this PIA on many forums. Regards.

Is that home made? Neat!

Thanks.

What I've done to solve this pain in the reare end is to remove the quick disconnects. I now just atach the hoses by screwing them together and tightening them with a wrench. When the grapple is off, I screw in plugs that stop dust from going into the grapple hoses and hydraulic fluid coming out of the tractor hoses.

It's now twice as fast to change the grapple without the disconnects.
