Just take the rod end loose and extend or set it to whatever position using the hydraulics. Then take off the hoses, plug them, and drain the cylinder. Done deal.

Well, all the welding work is done and I went to hook up my new cylinder for hydraulic angling and had an issue that's got me a little stumped. When I hooked up the cylinder to my quick connects, I could get it to extend about half way and then retract a few inches. After that it would only move an inch or two in or out before going into relief. I did double check the quick connects and also tried the other FEL circuit to no avail. Could it be air bound?
I've hooked up other new cylinders in the past and it took a few cycles to get it moving smoothly in and out, but this one just does not seem to want to move without binding. What's weird is that when we had it hooked up to the plow with the ports open, we could move the cylinder in and out by manually angling the plow. Seemed to move fine then. Looking for any help in what could be wrong.
Oh, I was going to take the hoses off and fill it with oil and try again, but I'm out of hydraulic oil right now. Should have some more in a few days.

One of the QD might be stuck, not allowing fluid to flow. Reverse the QD's on the cylinder and see if anything is different.

JJ thanks but I did check the QC's and thought I tried both circuits, BUT ..... you got me thinking and I just went out and traced my FEL circuits so I know for sure which QC does what function. Well, I had them completely wrong such that when I had the cylinder connected, I had one hose on a boom circuit and one on a curl circuit, then vice versa. So, I'm thinking there was no way for the fluid to come back to the valve as I tried each throw of the joy stick, thus little to no movement of the cylinder. I will try hooking it up correctly as soon as I can and see what happens. Should never have assumed which QC was for what function. Doh !!

I had thought about that, but I figured no one would do that. I should have stated all the mis-configurations that I could think of. Glad you got it all figured out.

Feel a bit stupid but I just assumed the two QC for each circuit would be next to each other. Mine are configured with the 4 QC's in a row and the outer two are one circuit and the inner two the other. Who'd a thunk.
