Idiot needs some help!

Ok all I know about hydraulics is nothing! so here goes some questions.
1. I am adding hydraulic ports to a satoh. Want to add a pair of ports at rear fender(for log splitter and maybe backhoe,etc), and will tie into a soon to be built FEL up front.
2. Can I run 2 lines(pressure and return) to the rear fender, and tee into both lines and run that to the front for a FEL? ie go 6 inches from pump put tee in then go 2 feet to back left fender and 3 feet to right front?
3.Any ideas where to learn more about hydraulics?
4.Am going to drain all fluids and renew,should I add an extra filter to be safe on the new lines?
5. Anything else I should think about but dont know enough to ask?
6. Can I get quick connects like for air lines for hydraulics?
Wish I knew more about this!!!

From the pump, I recommend you install a FEL valve with PB to the rear remote valves. Your filter should be OK if you change it at regular intervals. Yes, there are QD's for hydraulics. There are many Cd's out there on Hydraulics. I am sure Ebay has some. Do you have a manual for your tractor. Do you know about fittings and hose types, etc?

There is quite a bit if info on this site. If you have the time, do a search for key words, and it will bring up all post with the data you searching for.

im no expert by any measure, im having problems of my own at at this time. but here is my take on your questions.
1. good, you will be glad you did.
2. yes, but why not run your FEL off of your rear remotes? you likely wont use the FEL and the rear remotes at the same time anyway.
3. here, there is more information here than i can digest. lots of good reading, just do a search on any subject.
4. no clue on this one. i just blow out the lines with air.
5. knowing you dont know is showing good judgement. if questions come up as you do your project just post up.
6. yes, ag. skid steer, poppet, and on and on. ag are the cheapest and most common. most all farm equiptment uses ag

TN: Read thru the posts here on adding remotes. I also was a hydraulic novice but after reading others experiences, looking at various distributors sites (Surplus Center, Disc. Hyd. Baileys etc) I was able to formulate a plan. Then I could ask specific questions here while I was progressing. Installed 3 additional remotes (2rear-1front) without a hitch. These guys will help you thru it.

Let me give you a few things that will help you get a basic understaning of the way that our tractor hydraulics work. Basically you cannot "T" into anything (except the return line to the sump). Our systems work in a "series" rather than "parallel." You run the pressure line to one valve assembly, then through a PB (Power Beyond) to the next valve in the series (maybe rear ports), then through the PB on to the 3pt lift. At each valve assembly there also should be a return line to the sump, these can be "T'd" together.

There are two types of hydraulic systems, series and parallel. MJ is correct that the most common system is a series system. In a parallel system you would use a variable displacement pump. On the series system all valves are open center and on a parallel system they use a closed center. Price wise the series is the lowest cost system to build.
