I know that this is not a tractor but my problem is Hydraulic related.
Cat 257b all terrain skid steer. I do not have any hydraulic pressure at the
auxiliary connectors on the loader arms. I have checked all fuses, relays and anything else that I can find. If anyone has any suggestions as to what the
problem might be please respond. It would be appreciated. I need the auxiliary hydraulics to control a 6 way dozer/snow blade.

Thanks

The problem could be any number of things, pump, valve, wiring, fuse, etc.

Do you have any hyd schematics? Is the aux valve manual or solenoid operated? Is aux pump working. A hyd gage would certainly help find the problem. If the aux valve is solenoid, you can apply 12 v at the solenoid to operate the valve, and the solenoid might have a pin to push to manually operate the valve.

The aux valve on my Case loader is under the floor, and operated by a lever/linkage.

Thanks JJ, the only book that I have is the Operator and Maint. manual.
The auxiliary is run off of the main pump. I have checked all fuses and relays
that pertain to the auxiliary. I do not know where the auxiliary solenoid is, I have tried to trace the lines but have not found the source. The auxiliary is operated by slide or fan switch on the right joy stick. I should be able to slide it and get pressure but that doesn't happen. To supply continuous flow I have to hold a button on the left joystick and push or pull the slide switch then release them at the same time but still no pressure. My closest dealer is over a hundred miles away and they just want to send me a mechanic. This should be a simple solution if I can find my way around. I will check under the joystick tomorrow and see if something has come loose.

Also JJ, all hydraulic controls work except for the Aux. I checked with another owner and his has hyd. pressure all the time. To operate the blade he just has to push the button to electrically switch the blade solenoids.

A wire may have come loose or broke. If you can find the solenoid, jiggle all the wires, and if you have a volt meter, measure the voltage at the terminals of the solenoid, and the switch.

It also sounds like a relay is involved to lock the solenoid on. You almost have to have the book to trouble shoot the hydraulics, electrical, etc. I have the complete book on my Case 1845C. It ain't cheap, but it is worth it.

You are right about the book, $1300 for the repair manual and $85 just for the parts manual. Information is not in the dealers vocabulary. One problem is, to check anything you have to be in the seat with the arm bar down, switch on and the parking brake off. All of the controls are under the seat and to see anything you have to tilt the cab back. If someone else had a book with the hydraulic schematic might be able to shoot me a copy or tell me where the aux. solenoid is would be a big help.
Thanks J.J.

(edit) Just thought of something else. There is a switch that can be pushed to relieve the pressure on the Aux. Hyd. lines to remove the quick connects. Would anyone know where the
solenoid valve is that this switch activates.

Thanks

Not after you get use to it, but it is not that full now.

Did anyone find a solution to the problem? I've got the same skid steer with the same problem. the release switch on the right joystick must actuate a relay that we can't find. Cat's solution is the same as what was told to you, bring it in or we'll send a mechanic, 200 miles to the dealer.

Don't know if this will help , but, I've got a 287B and sometimes when I get in the machine, pull the lap bar down and release the parking break, the aux hydraulics won't work, if I apply the break and then re-release it everything works fine. I think it must reset or activate the aux hyd solenoid. I would check the wires to the parking break and if you have a cab make sure the door safety switch is working properly. Unfortunately I don't have any other useful info. Keep us posted....
